I've been meaning to download a registry cleaner for a while now (and have just spent the last 4 bloody hours straight scouring the web!!), but i have no clue as to what i'm looking for, i know about the registry and that it should be cleaned every now and then, but have had no luck so far on finding one i like the look of.

I have a few requirements:-
Must be freeware/opensource (no bloody demo versions or trials, I hate it when you download a "free" bit of software and find out you have to pay to use it).

Must be fairly easy to use and have a graphical interface.

Must do a good job

So if anyone can help that would be great.

Oh and i spose i should let you know i'm running XP SP2

Oh, ol' Shin's just being silly.

I suggest adaware, or Spyware Doctor.

They're good if you've got a virus or Spyware.

But I asked my dad (So as not to make a TOTAL ass of myself), and he says "Don't mess with the registry."

I'd take his advice. He hasn't been wrong so far.

Well i'm ok on the front of virus and spyware protection, its just i've heard if your computers slow then it could be the registry (i've deleted all unwanted files, done virus and spyware scans, and have defraged my system, along with using a program to remove deleted files).

If you're using FireFox, then go to "Tools" then "Clear Private Data."

If you're using Internet Explorer, then start using FireFox. Otherwise, go to "Tools" then "Delete Browsing History."

Then do this:

-Start Menu
--Programs
---Accesories
----System Tools

Then in that menu, use Disk Cleanup, and then Disk Defragmenter. You're computer will run faster, and you'll have more harddrive space.

Yep done all that already (I have Firefox clear my private data every time i close it), and i've used disk cleanup and the defragmenter.

Well maybe its something else, i'll have a look now.

I'd run a virus scan and spyware scan, just in case. You never know what might happen.

Unless you just have a crappy computer. Then it's nobodies fault.

I have my spyware program check every day, and i do a virus scan once a day too, i'm what you would call "security paranoid", i even have Firefox let me know when a site wants to do anything with cookies!

Cool, well thanks, i downloaded it (and it works great, it found 302 entrys needed sorting!), but i'm ok for a serial, I use free download manager, and someone had put up a working serial in the comments of this download.

Cool well thanks guys for your help, i can sleep easy at night now knowing that all aspects of my computer are running smoothly :P
And i must say, as well as i had my computer running before, its going much better now
