I can't wait to see where they go with this series. It looks like there's a lot of continuity being estblished.
We get an explanation for how Cheetara has her speed, because ALL of Jaga's clerics are fast. This may explain her psychic powers in the orignal series.
People who whined about Panthro not being in the series can have their diapers changed now...you know he's still out there, alive somewhere.
The Lion-O/Tygra sibling rivalry, while a little unusual at first, gives some interesting character development between the two. I'm trying to figure out why Lion-O would be picked to be successor & not Tygra, so right now I'm going on the assumption that they are only half-brothers or Tygra is an adopted son or something. Lion-O's reaction to meeting Cheetara the first time had me laughing immediately. The usage of the voice actor for Lion-O in the original series as Claudius was nice.
Lynx-O even had a cameo as the one who "smelled" the lizardmen approach. You just know somewhere down the road there's gonna be a badass fight scene involving him tearing somebody up Daredevil-style.
The Thunderians aren't exactly innocent! I felt that they came off as being arrogant and overconfident in their ways, and liked seeing it play out in their reaction to oppressing the lizardmen prisoners. Buncha jerks. Even Claudius wasn't above this as a "squeaky-clean goody-two-shoes".
I don't know how I feel about Snarf not speaking. Every time he'd be on frame I'd expect to hear him talk, but it never came. That'll take some getting used to.
Anybody notice Grune had Mumm-Ra's emblem on his new armor when he betrayed the Thunderians?
I'm gonna have to watch it again & see what else there is to catch.

That was the best opening of an animated show I ever saw. The options it leaves for the series to follow are awesome. You just know Panthro will have a special role to play

you also have to figure that you'll see the two Street Urchins Kitt and Katt and learn more of their story. I expect them to play major roles going forward, beyond the token sling shot or marble thrower. I can't wait to learn more about Tygra and LionO's relationship. Definately has the Adopted Brother feel to it.

It was well publicised before the premiere that Tygra was either adopted or a half brother.
I enjoyed the first 2 episodes. The only niggles i have are minor. Grune's tooth is too long. I know sabre cats teeth are supposed to be but it just seemed out of proportion. I wasn't too keen on the new look Slithe either.
Like i said. Minor niggles and i look forward to next week

This was a fantastic debut. It really puts the old cartoon to shame.

That... was... frickin'... AWESOME!
I hope it shapes up to be at least a little similar to the original.
Panthro better not be dead. I'm sincerely pissed off about that.
I thought I'd try a double spoiler just to see what happened.
Snarf is awesome. 'Nuff said.

Great stuff so far, but there's something I've wondered about since the opening.
They are on Third Earth, yet Lion-O mentions that there's stories of tech and spaceships. The Thundercat people might hail from a different planet like the original series.
Mumm-Ra is known to the Thundercats as a legend of sorts, so it's possible that the first Thundercats met him at some point.
The Thundercat palace heavily resembles the 80's base.
Could this series be something of a sequel to the original series? My reasoning is that the stuff mentioned above seems to fit with this. There's also the fact that Lion-O and his father heavily resemble 80's Lion-O. Also, Mumm-Ra no longer had the favor of the evil spirits near the end of the original series, it would explain why he's been out of the picture for all these centuries.
The only thing that wouldn't make sense is that it seems rather unlikely that the new main character would share the names and appearance of the original cast.
I'm really hoping that they'll delve into the origins of these Thundercats.

I believe they stated in a panel interview that there would be heavy references to the original series but the two would not be directly related.

My wife and I were wondering about this as well..

I would like to read or listen to this article to get a better perspective of where this show is going.
We really enjoyed the premiere episode and look forward to watching the series.
Oh and as soon as I heard Grune speak I said "Clancy Brown!!"
Man, he does voices in everything these days..

I'm having trouble finding the video of the panel. The SDCC panel is the one that keeps coming up. Some of the Wondercon highlights, where they mentioned the original series being more of a 'guidebook' are here:

Nice.. Thanks for the link as that explains all I was curious about..
When asked about a potential SilverHawks crossover, Jelenic didn’t shoot the idea down, but said instead, “Keep your eye out for that…you’ll never know what you’re going to see.”
w00t!

Hmm to have mention of Silverhawks within this universe or even perhaps something leading to a new comic series or a new Television series spin off.. Geez I am abuzz with thoughts on the potential developments.

Not bad, but I don't really like the animation... Not the art - which is wonderful, but there are problems with the animation: If something blows up (and there's lots of stuff) it seems that smoke just covers it, and we don't really see wreckage; the time when the trio defends the lizards the only characters on-screen are just the currently fighting ones, no crowd despite the large spectrum of the screen (what's this, a computer game?); there are animations re-used by the battle scene(the same lizards flee the same way - stock footage FTW...) and there isn't really any wreckage of robots or corpses anywhere (in fact, I didn't even see any falling character on-screen other than the king)
All in all: The art is beautiful, but the animation errors make the series on the level of 90's cartoons. Too bad. The story starts good, so I give it a chance.

It has been years since I saw the original Thundercats back on Cartoon Network(and a few eps as a younger kid), but I do recall watching nearly them every day, so I decided to DVR the new show.
Good thing I did, because I was impressed. I like the animation and the new take on the characters. The clerics coming in and kicking tail was awesome.
I like how there's a class system in place, and I really hope they keep with that angle. Though it would have been nice to see the lizards actually do something evil before the attack, but one could argue Lion-O had never seen that side of the lizards before so why should the audiance? Technology being a thing of legend is also a nice touch, and I hope they do some good stuff with that.
Really glad Panthro's not a traitor, and I'm sure he'll be back. Also the cameo from Lynx-O was a welcome surprise, and I recognized him immediately.
Mumm-Ra and the Lizards working together? Hmm, I cant' remember if it was like that in the original series or not, but I'll buy it. Still, Mumm-Ra might have been brought in a little too early and defeated a little too anti-clamatically in his first battle though, but depending on what they do with him in future episodes could render this small point rather moot. His entrance was good though, and was he connected to the Sword of Omens in the original?
All in all, I think this series could be a winner.
Also, I'm looking up some info on the old Thundercats. I did not know Grune was in the orignal series. Must have missed that one(and probably more than a few others).

Yea this was awesome, well worth the wait. I love the Technology being a thing of myth and legends, that's my favorite kind of fantasy.
I'll continue watching this and buy the DVDs.
Thing is, I think I like it already better than the original.

I love the new series.
Aside from Lynx-O's cameo,I've spotted a couple of other easter egg's.
-When Lion-O walks into the BlackMarket shop,he picks up an arm belonging to a Berbil.
-The Dagger used to kill Claudus, looked a lot like 1 of the Rats eye daggers.

well the 3rd episode was ok to be fair.
However those fishmen were awful. They looked like they had been drawn/designed by a 5 year old. That really spoiled the episode for me. It seems like they spent all their time designing the main characters and didn't bother giving the fishies any thought

Fishman episode was a complete take off of Moby Dick. Nothing wrong with that but a kinda strange choice to be using this material already. Loved the premier though. So far this is looking to be a great series and far better than the original which I find amazing to say.
