Alien Lifeforms

Okay. This isn't a thread about "Do they exist?" Because in my opinion, it's more logical to think they do exist over the one simple question. Out of all the planets in the existance, you think this is the only one that has life? And by existance, I don't mean the universe, but I do mean the possibilty of multiple universes and demensions. But back on topic, I want to talk about really anything about aliens. I have a mixed view about them and I think this could be a very very great debate. Back a few years ago, I thought that they could live anywhere, no matter how far from a star, or even on a planet. But ten I gained a view of that they only could live on a planet at a certain distance from a star that sustains water and such which kind of makes better sense. I'm a big alien fanatic and I have multiple perspectives. Like that they can live in different enviroments, even dangerous ones like bacteria. The bacteria thing was my first base for the thought of where they can live and so on. Saying that they can breathe hydrogen and such. Then I saw Numbers I think it's called with Nicholas Cage where he finds a list of numbers that were dates and how many people die on those dates that turned out to deal with aliens. His character said that aliens could only live in enviroments such like earth, so I went to do some research and typed in "the science of aliens" on Google and found a book on Ebay called "The Science of Aliens". Funny how that turned out to be a book. I baught it and the book just describes my old theory that they don't have to live a certain distance from a star, could breathe practicly anything, be made of any type molecule and such. I've watched, read, played all these stories and they go both ways saying both theories. What are your views on aliens, how they could live, be like and other things?

Now THIS is my kind of thread.

I can't say what I think alien life would be like, but they're not little green men, I'll tell you that. However, I do firmly believe that aliens exist.

And they're in Canada. Just kidding. I'm half French-Canadian; I can bash Canada all I want.

Seriously though, aliens are real.

Well, there could be a possiblitly of little green men, but only from a planet where others have a vast number different forms. I watched the live-action Green Lantern movie the other day and noticed a guy that had a body made of rock. Now, out of all the possibilities, I think this is the one thing that can't be possible. Well, because it's rock. Which also got me think about Cybertronians. They're composed of metallics. Even if it could be possible, you'd think they'd have wiring and cercutry (the spelling might be off) like robots from earth or would they just be straight metal? But it might be possible. Maybe. Like I said, I have a mixed view so ANYTHING may be and may not be possible.

if they do exist the probably wouldn't be humanoid and wouldn't look anything like us, my guess would be insect-like or crustacean-like. they would also probably have to live in whats called the Goldilocks zone, not too close to a star where conditions are too hot (Venus and mercury) and not too cold (mars). the planet would almost defiantly need to have a magnetic field to protect it from solar wind (charged particles given off from the sun) and an atmosphere to keep a stable temperature. a planet with large oceans would need a moon to keep steady patterns, and keep the environment in check. there are 200,000,000,000 to 400,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy alone, and any of them could have planets, in addition to this there are 200,000,000,000 galaxies in the universe each with billions of stars that could have planets.

Then again, maybe there are some aliens that don't have to live in the Goldilocks Zone. There could be some that don't need to breathe. There could be some that don't feel heat or cold. We'll never know, really.

Of course not; they're grey men and women. Some of them anyway.

Why does being "rock", negate the possibility of life for you?

Good, I’ve wanted to see a thread like this ever since I joined.

In my theory: Aliens, in all probability, should exist. Plain and simple. But if we ever contact them…It’ll just be the ruin of another civilization. (Example, when the Spaniards slaughtered and stole from the Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs to name a few.)
However if they ever successfully contact us…well I’ll be thinking “God, if they’re that stupid, I wonder how they managed find a way to contact us!”

That rant was from the angle of the conservationist Godzillabot

Now lets hear the side from curious Godzillabot

I am truly curious about alien life, what it will look like? What it will its intelligence be? And what will it think of us?
Who says it will be tall thin and gray? Why it could’ve evolved into a slime form! I think that an alien won’t have any human characteristics, but something new unto itself.

Well, think of it this way. Have you seen an actual animal of Earth that had skin or an exoskeleton made of rock or seen a rock that had legs, a face and moved around on its own? But as this thread is about, anything could be possible so there could be a species that doesn't have skin that's completely rock, but a form of skin that's quit simular to rock. Like the Turians from Mass Effect. I've read the info on them and their skin isn't exactly rock, but pretty close to it.

In other cases on what aliens might look like, like in the Star Gate series, some other aliens look exactly like us. Star Trek is another example. There was a race where they were completely like humans, but was missing a joint in only their pinkie fingers. the rest of the hand was like ours, except for that one finger. Where it bends in two different spots on the finger, they only had one spot. There is one thing I didn't like Ben 10 for, is that all the aliens in that show had powers. Except Four-arms making an exception. Instead, I went with the scientific way and said instead of having super strength, his molecular structure was more dense giving him rock hard skin and muscles that had more mass.

I have indeed seen a few animals/insects who's outer apparence was not only "rock like" in apparence, but also in tewcture.

Not only that, but in our oceans we have examples of "LIVING ROCK", which are classified as plants, but they share a few qulities with rocks. And lets not forget organic rocks.

I can imagine that on some other world, there might be some form of rock life.

Touche. But I don't think they have the same molecules that makes up a rock. Yeah, they might have the same texture, but as an evolution state where they have to blend in for defense. But still. Yeah sure, the creature I said about in the Green Lantern movie would have the same qualities. But I wouldn't say these examples or that alien IS rock

well, I would assume that GL alien only had skin that looks and feels like rock, much like the plants, animals and insects I pointed out.

Don't waste your time. It's very rare that I ever hate a movie, and this is one of those times. There is only one other time where I've been pissed off by a movie.

The only thing I didn't like about Wall-E is that it portrayed humans in the future as a bunch of fat slobs that are too lazy to do anything. Thus the creation of robots. But brings me to another point. Would we find robotic races? Like I said earlier, we might find a race that are kinda metallic that were actually organic. Not completely metallic because that just falls in my theory of how rock creatures wouldn't exist. So I wouldn't say we would find an alien race like transformers unless they were built by someone else. Like the Geth from Mass Effect. They were built by the Quarians to do labor for them and then gained self-awareness and rebelled. Now they have their own society and are considered another species because of the self-awareness and the term artificial is also considered racist to these beings.
