Not to mention fundamental contributions to the creation of the field of Psychoanalysis.
Even by just putting out unproven theories, other were able to work with them and bring us to the point we are at now.
(Although there is a current rise in Cognitive approaches rather than Psychological..)
And his work is quite important in the field of literary criticism, possibly the only remaining academic area which still applies Freudian concepts to something.

I guess it's just really though to put stuff like the subconsious through empirical testing. Freud's not the only guy who gets shafted for not being able to prove his theories.
BTW Freud's ideas are also still being used in pedagogy and philosophy, he's far from outdated. His daughter has built on his ideas as well.

I'd post my desktop theme, but NO WAY mods would allow to stay up. I'll take the high road here and not get a warning.
Just imagine the Twilight guy vs. Deadpool, Godzilla, a hangover, and the bears from the Charmin commercials and you about half way there.
