A different question about file sharing

Okay so the SOPA stuff has dominated our discussions of late, and then out of that Megaupload was taken down and a number of other file sharing services rolled over.

But there is a legitimate side to file sharing and that's what this is about.

I'm the Secretary of the the local Community Band, i've set up a Facebook Group for the band and it's working out great, we can share photos of play outs and set up events for upcoming play outs and fundraisers. But one thing Facebook doesn't let you do is share files.

And by files I'm talking about Word Docs, like our Letterhead for writing letters, or copies of completed grant applications, and even a couple of MP3 files of radio interviews. All legitimate stuff which i'd like to share with the Group and even have a couple of them (i.e. the executive) collaborate on it.

I know there's Google Docs, i've used it with Psychout a bit (and I suspect he's used it a lot) but any files I share are linked to my account. Setting the preferences of who can view and edit is easily enough, but as i've found in the past, you need a Google account to access things, and not everyone in the band has, needs, or wants a Google account.

Ideally i'd like something where I can upload a file, share it to Facebook, or privately share it with the executive who can edit it, and without the need for people to set up accounts.

No disrespect to my fellow band members, but not all of them are computer savvy so it needs to be simple and easy to use.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You'll have to set-up your own website and host the content on there for them to download it, kinda like a cloud or hell, a band homepage. But that costs money and time.

Have you looked at cloud storage, like Microsoft's SkyDrive?

Rapidshare is still active but I don't know for how long. It may be an idea to try searching for a locally hosted version - .co.oz or whatever it is you have over there as these are less likely to fall under US jurisdiction so are more likely to be out of Hollywood's reach.
