While looking up aircraft carrier landings on youtube, one of the advertisments before the video was the new Total recall movie trailer!

Not great, but not bad either!

HELLZ YEA!!! I love the original, and I know the preview is supposed to pump me up, but I dare say this looks better than the original. A cameo from Ahnuld would have been nice...

I agree. I couldn't sit through the original. I saw various bits and pieces and some of it was just bloody disgusting. (Pun intended. Nasty scenes...)

That was fine for the '80s. That was a time when Paul Verhoeven was king of this stuff. Robocop, Total Recall, etc.

This version seems to rely less on blood and guts and shock value, and more on well crafted visuals, plus has a story to tell. The original had a story, I get that, I do, but much like Robocop, it got lost in the shock visuals and gore. Maybe they were needed to tell THAT version of the story. This version, however, seems to be more cerebral, with action and visuals thrown in.

I'll take it.

Yeah, and the 4 main roles are cast to good actors. Colin Farrell as Doug Quaid is pretty good, closer to the character in the short story, and I think Bryan Cranston as Cohaagen is perfect. Especially since the role is changed a bit, instead of him being the ruler of Mars, he is the commander of the police force, Michael Ironside's role in the original. I guess they combined those 2 roles. I would also have liked to see a cameo by Ironside as well. Might still happen. I think the female roles should have been reversed, with Beckinsale playing Melina and Biel playing Lorie. Maybe it's just the hair color, I don't know. And I wonder if we will actually see Quaato, and if he will be the way he was in the original. Or maybe he will be played by Verne Troyer, who played Mini-Me. All in all, it's a summer movie I'm looking forward to.

Thank Rodimus Prime for posting up the trailer. Guess i need to work on my youtube linking skills.

i guess i was expecting something else. Don't get me wrong, it looks good. But i guess i just had something else in mind. Like i wasn't expecting everyone to be flying around mars (or maybe that part was earth). Mars is still a non atmosephere planet, so figured any "flying" would be in spaceships. :P Oh well, nothing big and i'll get over it.

Sorry, guys, I like the original. I'm big on a blood and guts kind of movie. I really am not a fan of Colin as an actor, besides his part as Bullseye. I loved the original. I may see this when it hits Netflix, but I'm not rushing to the theater. As for Robocop- That is in the number 2 spot of my all time fav Sci-fi movie. Just loved Kurtwood Smith's character........."bitches,leave." I may see the new version in the theater, but it won't take the place of the original. Sorry, but I'm "old skool"..... Oh, and on another note..... the anniversary edition of Robocop (in an awesome collectors tin) has this segment with the guys who played the bad guys in the movie making fun of Peter Weller. It's funny as hell!

I liked the original and I may check this out. But I do wonder who thought that Total Recall needed to be recreated? Was there a cult-hit-remake fad I missed?

We're right in the middle of it. Clash Of The Titans, TransFormers, Total Recall, etc. Hollywood's dried up on original ideas.
