I remember reading a long time ago that a live action Dragonball Z movie was in the works starring Tom Welling(aka Smallville's Clark Kent) as Goku. I can't find anything about it on IMDB. Was the movie cancelled? I hope not. I grew up watching the Dragonball series', in addition to G2, BW, and BM ofcourse. So I'd love to see how the Kamehameha attack would translate into real life.

Hopefully it died a most dishonorable death.

Agreed. I can't imagine any way this would turn out to be any good. I just don't think it would translate well at all.

So many things I can't see in real life Like the hair Physics the anthropormorphic animals Dinosaurs, Powering up and Japanese Sense of Humor. But from what I heard Fox bought the right like 4 years ago, but they are doing nothing with it and probably wont DBZ hasn't been popular in Japan for nearly a decade now and the interest is dying out in t he states although I do love some good DBZ. But IN my opinion I think DBZ would only work with a mostly all asain cast Tom Welling I dont think so.

i would have thought Tony Jaa, the guy from Ong Bak and Warrior King would have been a better choice to Tom Welling

Tom Welling as Goku? Ha! What a joke! He's far too boring to be Goku.

And too smart, but yet too stupid all at the same time.

Yeah, Goku's sort of naive and childlike at times, isn't he?

I can't believe none of you remember this movie. I remember several of you in this thread commenting in the thread like...3 years ago. As far as I can remember, they never had anyone cast, it was only a concept idea. As for the hair, they said it wouldn't be big...it'd just have a certain "fluffyness" to it. But ya, it got cancelled, and for good reason, it would've sucked.

Jet Li can barely speak english I think Ken Wantanbe Or the Guy who played shang tsung In Mortal Kombat would make a better Vegeta.

Lets not fuss over who would play Vegeta in the movie.

Lets just be glad that the movie is dead, and will hopefully never return to life as a half-baked hollywood movie zombie.

The Dragonball live action movie is one of the best bad movies I've ever seen! Horrible special effects, bad costumes, and bad acting. It's so bad, it's funny, and the english dub is even funnier. Goku=Monkey Boy, Oolong=Piggy, Roshi=Turtle man. There are a few others, but they aren't as funny sounding. And also the english dub is comprised of some of the guys who worked on the Star TV dub of Transformers, so you know it's a quality translation :P .

I have a certain nastalgia for DBZ. It was overdone, but I enjoyed it. Still though, a live action movie woulnd't work. Why can't they just leave some things in animation?
