Theater spending habits...

:BOT: Ever since seeing Die Hard & Transformers in theaters, I've noticed my spending habits at the theaters. Recently for Die Hard, I think I spent $20 all together because of popcorn and a drink. At the time, I say it'd be worth it. I do enjoy the snacks... but the money adds up.

I think I need to start planning my movie going experience on days when AMC gives away popcorn.

What's your movie going expense like? Or do you tough it out and say no to snacks? :CON:

For me, it's a movie ticket with whatever deal I can swing (student discount, coupons, etc). I don't bother with snacks. I just grab a large size drink and try not to use the bathroom in the middle of the flick. Altogether, that usually brings me to about $14 or $15.

• Movie ticket
• Large frozen Coke
• Packet of Twisties

In the event of a long movie I might add a bottle of water.

Generally it all comes to just over $20AUD. On top of that however is about $20AUD in petrol because of the 80km's (160km's round trip) to the big cinemas.

Could go to a closer one but it's only Friday/Saturday nights, it's weeks behind the big chain cinemas (privately owned) and it still has the old style chairs.

And probably still has no air-conditioning.

Heres is Roddy's trip to the movies.

Go to a Dollar store and buy a couple bucks in Candy.
Get to the movie theater and use my debit card at the Buy your own ticket machine. But I get a Senior Citizen ticket.
Then I'll buy a large pop.

Altogether I rarely break $15

Is that beating the system, or simply being a pikey?

YOU DECIDE!

I only buy the ticket. I always bring my own food with me. Though the tickets of Pirates 3 were 10euro a piece :?

Only a ticket. I don't really like the saltiness on teh popcorn, and the drinks are water with a bit of syrop in them. $10 CDN over here.

Tiket and that's it!
But considering that I went to the cinema like 10 times! this year that still to much!

I don't bother going to the cinema anymore, regardless. Far too expensive for a mediocre experience, although I will be making an exception for the Transformers movie.

I usually don't buy a drink, because I don't like missing parts of the movie to go take a whizz. I don't get popcorn because it'll make me need a drink, so I need to go use the bathroom.

I don't get either because their ridicoulusly overpriced.

But since Matinees are only $3 a person, and I usually go with at least my dad, it comes to between $6 and $9. (If I bring a friend)

I completely forgot about the dollar theater. When they play something I'm interested in seeing, I only pay the dollar, get the usual large drink, and enjoy a $6 + tax show.

Normally when I can I go to matinées because it's only $6.25 for a ticket. If not it's $8.50...Though either way I don't mind as the cinema I go to is freaking lavish as all Hell. Tilting seats and all that. I stop at the Drug Mart about a quarter mile down the road and load up my khakis with a bag of Reese cups and a bottle of water.

So normally for me alone it's either about $10.00 or $12.00

Im usually pretty cheap, so unless its a movie like Transformers I'll just use one of those online sites which have tons of movies uploaded that you can watch free of charge.

Im so cheap I'll usually sneak in popcorn and water/soda in a backpack. Go me!

movie ticket, and I buy my snacks and drinks from outside and smuggle them in, most of the bored teens taking my ticket don't really care and I'm not gonna pay $4+ for a small coke when i can get 4 cans of arizonas for the same amount
