I am looking for a free program (that is virus and spyware free) that will permanately delete deleted files so they cannot be recovered. I have an old PC that I am going to give to a friend of my sisters but I want to remove all my personal info permantely. (mainly my finacial files)

Department Of Defense certified. It restores your hard drive back to full factory specs, and you could even reseal the drive's packaging (if it had any) and sell it as brand new, and no one would ever know. That's how powerful this program is.

You could just delete the files so that the disk sectors they occupy are marked as empty, empty the recycle bin, defragment, fill her up with hundreds of bitmaps etc to overwrite the deleted files, and then delete and defrag. Nothing it coming back from that.
