It doesn't help that it came out in theaters at possibly one of the worst times of the year for a action blockbuster film to come out, and hurt even more by its coming out on the heels of the release of a live action remake of one of Disney's most beloved classics of all time, Beauty and the Beast. It really should have waited to come out closer to the summer like GotG Vol.2 did (but also away from that film as well).

There is no ideal scenario for this Movie. If came after The Beauty and the Beast,it would have face Guardians of the Galaxy, like you said,or if came July it would have face Transformers,Wonder Woman and Kingsman 2.If we count Spider-Man,Thor and Star Wars coming later this year, nad ou can see how hard it is to find a reliable release date for the film. The best I cant think right know its if came earlier this year.

But it did.

I think you mean in June. July or even August would be far enough after TLK and Wonder Woman, and ahead enough of Kingsman.

Spiderman Homecoming is June/July.

Even if they'd held off until August, most people would be over the big movies by then.

Man, then this year really wasn't a good year for the movie to get released. There are too many powerhouse titles for it to have competed with.

Not sure what the schedule was like in February, but nothing much comes out here during then, to the point the movie theatres offer $10 (normally $19.50) tickets for most of the month.

But yeah, really bad year for it.

I just saw the movie (yes it's late, but I'm in france + in countryside, double combo).

It's not so bad. It'll not stay in memories, but it's decent.

Also, as I'm extremely easily influenced, I went on ebay to check the toys.

And.

Hem.

OMG. Am I the only one who think these things are junk ?
I didn't watch what happened to the power rangers line, I only remeber the first one which was pretty cool.

But these :

Really, I can't understand how these things can be released, how the engineers who did this can end their day by saying "I'm proud of what I've done".

Really, I'll now reconsider my position about latest transformers being a bit cheap on plastic and paint apps. These have reached a new level. I only hope they will sell poorly or Hasbro may want to go on this side too.

So I finally got around to watching this. Actually bought it on digital for my boy. You know what?

I really liked it, I liked it a lot. Yeah, it had its week points, but was overall very enjoyable. I'm kinda sad there won't be another one.

It sucks, I was actually looking forward to seeing how they continued to develop that universe.

Yeah I liked it too. I found it far more enoyable than the latest Transformers film. They went for a simpler plot and focused on characters. That worked for me.

Watched it this morning while dying from man-flu. I didn't mind it. As far as an "origin" movie goes I think it did a great job. They introduced and built up the characters. The plot was a little on the simplistic side, but that was a trade-off for the character build up.

It, and any sequels, had a lot of potential, it was just the wrong time for it to be released.

From Wikipedia:

Potential sequels

In a May 2016 conference call to analysts, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated, "We could see doing five or six or seven."[135][136] On March 22, 2017, Haim Saban said that he and Lionsgate already have a six-film story arc.[137] However in May 2017, Forbes noted that due to the underwhelming performance of the film in most markets, it is unlikely any sequels would be made.[7] Later that same month, it was reported that the sequels could still be made thanks to record breaking merchandise sales.[138] Prior to the home release of the movie Israelite confirmed that talks were taking place regarding a sequel,[139] and that he would like to include Lord Zedd in it.[140] The possibility of a sequel increased once more in early July 2017 when it was reported that the film held the number one spot in home media sales and rentals in its first week.[141]

Unless someone has a definitive source I think there is a good chance there will be a sequel.

That said I quite enjoyed this film as did my 14 year old cousin who was on the edge of his seat waiting for them to morph into the Megazord as Goldar was pushing them into the pit. I don't know what people were expecting from an origin story but anytime a kid who doesn't normally get that excited with anticipation reacts like that I'd say the director (and the other movie makers) did a good job. ;)^

I saw it a couple weeks ago finally. Not bad. I'd watch subsequent movies.
