"I love the smell of capitalism in the morning"...said some greedy bastard :-)

If I could have chosen the look of Optimus Prime through out these past 3 films, this would be it. In addition to the weathered paint work, Optimus also carries 2 3D printed ROTF inspired Buster Cannons, a shoulder mounted chain gun and a my take on an updated version of his G1 Ion Cannon, also created with a 3D printer. His cab roof gave me some drama in his Alt mode, but I really enjoy this bots great look.
Enjoy!

This mold actually looks quite good now you've done such an excellent paint job on it.

Have been admiring this piece since I saw it. Awesome work. Much more of a display piece after what you have done and amazing attention to detail. Killer.

Did you take the figure apart or remove paint before painting it? A lot of the figure is held together with pins that have the small end blocked, preventing you from disassembling it. I really want to paint mine. I probably couldn't do that amazing weathering but I do want to add all the detailing you did to make the figure seem more complete. I paint plenty of models but this will be the first TF I try to paint.

Thanks, bro. I didn't fully disassemble him, but the legs, thighs, waist, arms, forearms and shoulders you can take apart with a screw driver. To remove the upper torso and side panels, you'll need to use a pin punch. And make sure to post pics, bro!

Great Work.

Haven't gotten a hold of one yet, but I'm sure I'll want to do some work on him when I do.

I have a question though about the feet. From all the pictures and reviews I'e seen of him they look like they were dipped in blue paint and left to dry.

What actual color plastic are they cast in? If its the regular gray plastic, I may just go ahead and try to remove it to make them gray and add some detailing.

Is that doable, or would you suggest just a coat of gray base and go from there?

LOL The feet are cast in blue. I though that was weird, too, but it was probably to save them some money. :-P

I'd repaint them. You can always try and add detail on plastic without repainting the whole part, but the result vary widely depending on the type of plastic, the finish and your experience and skill level. Sometimes it's best to just repaint the part right up front so that you don't end up wasting time on another method, just to repaint it anyway later on down the road.

Hope that helps! :-)

I like those buster guns for Optimus. Is it possible to get the blueprints to 3d print them?
