UPDATE FROM OCTOBER 9th 2022

Photobuckets being greedy basterds, I changed the image links to Hostingpics. Then Hostingpics died. Then my old computer died, eating so many of my archives, losing the original pictures forever. So, I took new pictures with the newest Earthrise Doubledealer and the old T-30 version as comparisons. Note that I added some teammates to my T-30. Plus both the T-30 and the Er Doubledealers have been upgraded with Reprolabels.

Enjoy the updated pictures!

I'm not a big fan of G1. Often, the toys are ugly and not so fun. However, they do have some really great toys. One being Doubledealer. He's a brick, but lots of fun and I just love triple changers. Especially the ones with a beast mode.

When they announced an update for Doubledealer in the Generations line, I was exited... only to be disapointed by that Blitzwing repaint. I still bought it but I wished for more. Something more G1 accurate.

Then, I decided to make my own.

I got a second Cybertron Defence Red Alert because he's the base for my modern Doubledealer. It already have a great robot mode and a great vehicle mode. All I needed to do was to pull a bird mode out of the thing. With just a minimum of modding and an extensive (but admitedly sloppy) paint job, here it is:

Cybertron Double Dealer!

Here's the robot mode with and without, all of his accessories:The head came from the Kreo set Transformers Sideswipe.

As for the accessories, the obvious huge missile and it's bullet, two PCC minicons as perfect stand-ins for Knock and Scar, the eagle's claws (from DotM deluxe Lazerbeak) and the original weapon that is part of the vehicle mode (and part of another mode as well. Guess which one it is?) Finally, the cyberkey who is also a gun. Why? Because.

The vehicle mode whithout accessories. Due to the wings underneath, it does not roll and it dosent stay flat to the ground. A small price to pay for that awesome bird mode I pull off.

Just before showing off the bird mode, just look at that handy storage space for the bird's claws!

Image

First, the minicons must leave for the bird mode. The giant missile must be gone also. finally, a severe mistransformation or the original toy plus mods at the right places equal awesome:

Kinda more like a griffin dontcha think?
With gun-tail!

My custom is now a proud member of my collection!

I hope you enjoyed!

Truth be told, I totally did not see that third mode coming. I could see the wings in robot mode but nothing could have prepared me for when I first saw that heavy duty bird. It's really cool and I am impressed with how you got the bird feed in. I also never realized how similar the robot and tank modes of Red Alert and G1 Doubledealer are.

That's why I wanted to make this custom in the first place. Hasbro could have done it themseves! ;)

By the way, the original mistransformation I figured originally was much simpler. Once the custom was completely done and I was about to take pictures of the bird mode did I figured out the perfect way to do it. :KREMZEEK:

Very impressive, especially how you put together that bird mode.

Thanks but it would be easier to see what's it's all about by reposting some pictures form another image hosting site. Photobucket will NOT have my money.

For more info, read the descriptions in the first post.

Bump because I heard it's possible to "hack back" the old Photobucket pictures. If not, I'll take new pictures because my originals were eaten my previous computer who died.
Well, I had to take and post new pictures.

So,
FIRST POST EDITED.

Okay, now that I can see the pics, awesome work! One of your best to date.

The first shot of his bird mode really captures a hunched-over vulture stance that I don't think I've ever seen in a TF. Almost like the robotic version of Beaky Buzzard (Looney Tunes).

"NOOOOOPE, nope-nope-nope-nope-nope-nope, I don't wanna'..."

BA-KOOM! (his missile levels a nearby town)

"...but ah' did anyway. Gya-HUK!"

Hey, thanks! It was a simple yet fun custom to do. I'm sure with more work, I could have made the wings level under the truck. Plus, more than 8 years later, I'm sure I would have made a better paintjob.

I still consider Cybertron Doubledealer one of my best earlier work.

A pretty clever idea, and good execution for an early skill level. Beats the pants off my early stuff.

I'm sorry you fell victim to Photobucket shrinkflation (and a computer failure).

Thanks and yeah, these were quite the multiple purges. :(

One day, I'll have to retake all the pictures and repost them.
I also should get a better camera because my over 20 years old digital is clearly showing its age with these low def and often out of focus pictures.
