AOE Galvatron

Mod include drilling a 5mm peg into the right arm to restore Galvatron's G1 signature sidearm cannon. I drilled another 5mm hole on the flap at the back of the cab that the cannon can also pegged onto, creating a sort of Drag Racing Rocket Truck alt mode and a cannon station in robot mode. IMO this mod makes the truck mode more interesting and stored the cannon a bit better than lazily pegging it atop the cab. Also has the added bonus of covering the huge gap between the legs in alt mode. Hope you like it.

Love how you gave the "backpack" a practical use in making the artillery platform. Partsforming's better when everything has a practical in place in each mode.

I'm OK with partsforming myself if the loose parts can serve as weapons. This mod makes the mold more interesting in both modes. The cab can be used as a shield, which I think is appropriate given the figure's Gladiator-like build.

Could you please tell me what kind of paint you used, which colours you used, where can I get them(website address) and how you used it cause I really want to make my Galvatron look like yours and yours is just simply the best Galvatron I have seen and is it absolutely movie accurate?

Hi Grimlock Predaking,

Silver: Mr. Color #8
Gold: Mr. Color #9
Metalic Blue: Tamiya X-13
Metalic Black: Tamiya X-10 Gun Metal 80% + Tamiya X-1 Black 20%
Orange: Tamiya X-6

I handpainted the whole figure, I didn't bother with spray painting a base coat and I'm still pretty happy with the result. But if you do spray paint, I recommend you spray paint a black base coat first to bring out the silver & gold even more.

In terms of movie accuracy, that's a definite not. The movie Galvatron have far less blue on it and more a bit boring IMO. You can check out these pics for reference (or Google search "AOE Galvatron":

Yes, it's all done using brushes, no marker or spray.

Wow. I've seen a few pretty good Galvatrons over the past couple of months but this is great! I love how you've made the cannon a "sidearm" like the G1 character. That, combined with the paint job you've done, and he looks outstanding. Great job!

Can't see myself calling this a Galvatron figure without the sidearm cannon and a complete repaint. I mean come on, there's not a single distinctive design characteristic/color scheme here that makes me think it's Galvatron in this movie/toy version.
