So I am new to customizing, and I am looking for a paint that is smooth, glossy, and wont scratch...is the Krylon Short Cut Paint Pen acceptable? I have only done one custom, and it was a spray paint on DOTM Deluxe Sideswipe...but I don't like the chalky feel and look of it. I want a sleek, glossy look, as if it was done by Hasbro themselves. I plan on making a Animated Voyager Thundercracker, and I found a Krylon Short Cut Paint Pen at my local hardware store...thought I'd get some information before I buy it.

I've used other brands of metallic paint markers, I'd be leery of being able to get an even coat over large flat areas.
If you use flat paint you can go over it with a couple of coats of Pledge FloorCare Finish to give it some shine and protection.

Paint pens can be good for touch up work, but I'd avoid it in favor of a nice bottle and bruch for that kind f thing. If you're getting a chalky paint, that means yo have too much paint/not enough thinner, and or are too close to the model. Airburshes should be a good 6-12" away, and rattlecans should be farther. Also, you want to make sure the paint you use is right. For smooth finishes, you want "Gloss finish" paint. Or "Satin". Matte finishes are better for utilitarian looka, like blacks on Constructicons.
