TF Energon inspired Rodimus and Demolisher

First off I need to credit Cheets tweaks for the idea of Demolisher. I LOVED his armada Demolisher from FOC Ultra Magnus and wanted to have a go myself. However, since I’m more of a fan of Energon and really like the character and colour scheme at the beginning of the show, (before being re-formated) that’s the one I went with!

TF Energon inspired Generations Rodimus vs Demolishor (don't say that when drunk  )

First up, Rodimus!

Rodimus was made from Generations Orion Pax and a classics Rodimus head. I’m somewhat of a Rodimus fan, so repainting Pax’s head just wasn’t good enough. I had a spare Classics Rodimus, and luckily it works!
Orion's head is on a ball joint, so popped of easily. Rodimus, however, was a little more involved. With a junior hack saw, I took the head clean off, then drilled a hole through the bottom; Slowly, in increments, until it sat over the ball joint. Movement on the ball is limited, capable of a slight tilt, but has full 360 motion. Fits fine in vehicle mode.
He is currently carrying one of the guns from Combiner wars Optimus.

Demolishor, as stated, is made from an FOC Ultra Magnus. He comes with his mini-con, Blackout! (made from the universe yellow version of Firebot)
Unfortunately, due to when this was done, I have yet to have a chance to clear coat him, so the paint work has scrapped a little here or there! Needs a little tlc and touch ups but time is limited at the moment.

Just like Cheet’s custom, I cut off Magnus’ antennae and added the monocle.
I then added styrene rods to his hands, to homage the originals’ gun fingers, and extended 2 of the shoulder pylons, to look like his missile shoulders.
The biggest, and most fun change to the figure was adding mini-con ports. I really love the original Demolishor and Blackout toy, so this guy wasn’t complete to me without the full experience!

I made a cut at the back of each arm, placed in a 5mm styrene tube (they are perfect at fitting the mini-con connection!) and stabalised it with other styrene pices in the inside (the arm is hollow, so it was easy)
Of course, he can arm himself with any mini-cons!

Here is the main reason I chose Fire bot (OK…I chose him because he is my favourite mini con, but it all worked out!)
He doesn’t peg or clip on, but rests comfortably. This is somewhat of a homage to Demolisher’s reformatted look.

And for fun,

I originaly didn’t intend to make a ‘vs’ twosome, but late last year during renovations to the house, my toys were all in storage boxes in the kitchen. It gave me a chance to have fun with a lot of old Energon stuff, and I realised how much I love that deluxe sized Optimus. He needed a Rodimus to stand with, and pax was just out, so I went for it. I hadn’t long started Demolishor (having being inspired by Cheets) so again, it was just one of those things that just came together. Now they stand facing off with each other! I really love these little guys!

For last, their vehicle modes together.

Thanks for looking, folks :D

Would you mind if Hasbro ripped off your Rodimus for mass retail? Because I sure hope they do. Amazing.

Dude, your flame patterns on Roddy are AMAZING. Yeah, I can see brushstrokes, but those are truly impressive. Not sure I like how he lost his side windows, but that's a nitpick.

Demolishor is cool, but I;m not getting Demolisher from the colors. Nice figures though.

The brushstrokes are annoying me too, but I had a number of problems; Painting on the clear plastic wasn't easy, plus I did the paintwork once, didn't like the layout, so scrapped it off and re-did it. Also, being a small area meant a small brush, so that's the biggest factor, I think.
Without painting over the windows there wasn't enough room to add a good amount of flames, which I felt was most important. He's a cybertronian vehicle, with an engine block in his cockpit so it didn't matter too much.

Demolishor is in his energon colours, not the more obvious Armada look :)
