So I got this nice, 99.99% complete G1 Grotusque for only 60$CAN at my local Geek Store. Excellent price, but what about the missing 0.01%? The right wing's peg is broken off and is long gone.

As you see, I sanded down the teared part here:

So that I can FIX IT.

I used the 2007 voyager Starscream mold so much for my customs that I have LOTS of leftover parts. One of those parts was a limb piece. the tube inside made to fit a screw so this part get affixed on another was a perfect fit. Those wing pegs are just a wee bit larger than the standard 5mm port. So it was amazing to find the perfect fit so fast. All I had to do was to cut off the excess parts, add a shim and superglue it in place. The glue was just to hold the part into position. Then, I screw it on with two screws, tearing the part off on the first screw but fixing the damn thing in place again anyway. With the second and final screw, the part was solid. All that was left to do was to sculpt the part a bit with my Dremmel.

So here's the fixed wing unpainted so you can see better the part that I used. Note that I didn't go for a perfect match, but went instead for overall look and function:

And here's the final painted result. I took a "close enough" color:

Finally, Grotusque is complete! By repairing that wing, I saved at the minimum 30$.

And the G1 Monsterbots trio is COMPLETE! Yup. When I bought Doublecross, the Geek Stuff owner was right when he said I'll get the other two sooner or later.

This fix won't be featured in my Lab because it's just a minor repair. Still, it was a challenge and I'm really glad of the final results. If I ever come across an original right wing spare part for dirt cheap, I'll replace it. But for now, the repaired wing does a super-effective job! ;)^

Those original wings are very badly made for a children toy. Force on them the wrong way and they WILL break off. A modern toy would have pinned wings or they'd be attached via balljoints. Hope you guys enjoyed and if your G1 Grotusque suffer the same problem, it can give you a clue on how to fix it.
