I'm in the process of dismantling Blurr for the purpose of repainting him to cartoon colors. However, it's being a pain in the rear (one of the key designers for Combiner Wars and TR evidently has a psychotic hatred of customizers) and I don't want to damage him too much in the process.
Can anyone suggest a good technique and/or tool for getting his pins out?
And does anyone know what the least-damaging way to remove the pin for the cockpit canopy would be?

This may sound hostile, but anyone who tries to dismissively tell me "Just buy the Legends version" - because I know there are people who are going to say that - is invited to go choke on their wallet.

the only way i've heard of popping pins out is a pin pusher tool, and even then you have to make sure you're doing it on the side that isn't knurled, otherwise you're going to have a bunch of plastic dust once you get it out of there. but since you seem to be on a budget, my only advice is maybe take a small screwdriver and try that instead of a pin pusher.

I haven't knocked out pins in awhile, but my cheapo way of doing it was;

-Hammer
-Nail (smaller radius than the pin)
-Thin block of wood (thicker than your pin, but not too lengthy)
-Drill

What you want to do is drill out a hole from one end to the other in the block of wood. If you don't have a drill, you can just get a larger nail and hammer a hole into the block of wood.

The hardest part, as megmanfan stated, is to find where the pin isn't knurled. Line up your pin with the hole that was made in the block of wood and hammer away. You'll want to hammer the nail on the non-knurled side to push out the pin. This method's a pain in the butt and takes forever, but it gets the job done.

The capped pins on the figures elbows and knees require the use of a soldering iron to heat the capped part of the pin for them to come out. Unfortunately you can hit the pin all you want, if you don't heat it up first you will wind up ripping it out with a hammer and nail - damaging the joint. I would not recommend using a soldering iron either as the soft plastic on the elbow will melt before you have the chance of removing the capped pin. Try painting around it. Good luck.
