Titans Return Sentinel Prime is the figure which got me back into collecting, opening the rabbit hole which has left my pockets bleeding and crying. In spite of it's clear status as an Astrotrain pretool, the figure appealed to me on the basis that it looked based off his appearance in Megatron Origin. However anyone who has read said comics will remember this:


Sadly no third party upgrade kit ever manifested itself (probably because the figure wasn't popular?) and as such I've been left wondering how to make my own Apex Armor, give or take a creative liberty or ten. My best guess would be to make some snap-on armor which attach to the 5mm port of his leg for the leg gun and something around his shoulder and back which would have many 5mm ports. Beyond that I'm completely in the dark especially because this apparently has not been attempted as a custom yet or, if it has, I've never seen pics.

Any ideas?

Im no customizer, but maybe some gunplay stuff would help? It looks like it took some inspiration from Gundam, and other mecha. Also, it looks a bit like the war within (I think?) titanium megatron...maybe you can get one for parts or something...I dont know. I like the design a lot though

I'd recommend using some of Siege Shockwave's extra parts.

I would actually start with Cybertron Defense Hot Shot as the base figure (as it happens, this was actually planned by FunPub for BotCon 2007 before they went with Springer instead). He's smaller, but his chest detail and over-the-shoulder cannons would be good for it. The armor itself is for the most part based directly on Powermaster Optimus' own Apex Armor (AKA God Ginrai). Same wings, similar foot extension platforms, Powermaster Prime's turrets mounted around the ankles, and his handheld gun is based on Godbomber/Apex Bomber's cannon. His sword is obviously based on Movie Optimus' but Hot Shot's own might suffice.

Fakebusker on Shapeways made the guns for him, which does go a long way to making him look the part.
