Zeta may be done but I am just warming up :)

It's been some time since I posted my last custom here, so I needed to do something with it! Behold - mighty G1 Unicrom head / wearable helmet! This is the biggest custom of mine since tha cardboard Grimlock I built a while back (some of you may still remember it).

Video Presentation
Before we move to some of the technical part, I wanted to share a short video presentation, showing model in more details. It also includes some WIP photos if you are interested in them.

Unicron's head is based on its appearance in Transformers The Movie. As design had a tendency to rapidly shift between takes, I have decided not to stick to any particular frame but instead build my own interpretation, based on the overall "feeling" this character gave me.

I know there is a very slim chance I will be able to get an enormous size Unicron, so I did the most logical thing - made my own. The head is about 35 cm high (58 if counting to the tip of the horns) and it is 58 cm wide. It was built completely with EVA foam, which makes it light and comfortable to wear.

As Unicron is a really big boy, I wanted to present it in a fair way in my custom. That's why I have decided to go with countless, hand made panel lines. To further diversify the overall look, I pre-shaded every single line and added some wash. Unfortunatey pictures seem to have difficulty in picking up all of the details so you need to trust me on this one...

Having in mind overall size of this piece, I knew I need a good way to transport it. That's why horns are mounted on the screws, which are bolted to the main part of the helmet. This gives both stability and helps with storage, as I can simply unscrew them.

The last piece to consider were Unicron's eyes. It took forever to find shades in a good colour, with this "evil" green look. Still I think I was able to get exactly what I was looking for.

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed lookig at this custom at least as much as I enjoyed building it. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them below.
