Siege Welcoming Committee

Hey all, I figured I should start posting my many, many customs from late 2019! After buying a Redwing in October, I was hooked on the siege seekers and purchased more... and more... and more of them.

I decided to do three full repaints to make my welcoming committee, inspired primarily by the BotCon "rainmaker" set. Since the red/white wing stripes were missing from the retail siegekers I REALLY want to push them here.

Sunstorm was fully repainted from a Thundercracker, which was a really bad decision in hindsight given the number of coats required to blot out that blue and black... oh well, it was a learning experience! I based his colors primarily on the Takara Masterpiece toy. Unfortunately, that makes him more of "the yellow one" than "the orange one" but I don't mind it much.

Hotlink was repainted from a Starscream. One could argue this was also a bad decision given the recently revealed WFC Hotlink. I, however, plan to keep this Hotlink and use the official release as Cyberverse's all-purple Nova Storm. This thread will probably be updated once that set comes out and Hotlink can get a proper flamethrower. For now though, he has pyrokinetic powers from the red-orange "power core" Shockwave embedded in his shoulder. The overall look was a mix of his cartoon appearance and Cybertron Skywarp.

Bitstream was made from another Starscream, with his BotCon toy and Energon Starscream as the inspirations. If he was cartoon accurate, he would be another bright blue seeker! We have plenty of those already, thank you Hasbro. The green "power core" in his shoulder is supposed to let him become invisible but its energy is leaking into the rest of his systems.

Finally, a fun little shot of Bitstream and Hotlink acting as Shockwave's lab assistants. In my little headcanon for these guys, Sunstorm is an extremely radioactive and violent outlier Shockwave has kept in stasis since before the war. Shockwave tried funneling some of Sunstorm's potent spark energy into the "power cores" in Bitstream's and Hotlink's shoulders to give them outlier powers, but this process wouldn't be perfected until he empowered the rainmakers. In this shot, Bitstream and Hotlink have messed up Shockwave's latest attempt to make a clone body for himself.

Very nice work paintwork on all three.

Regarding Bitstream, I think a fully cartoon-accurate Bitstream would still stand out. For one thing, his blue is actually darker than what was used for Thundercracker (now, if SIEGE TC was colored like the G1 toy that would be another matter). For another, he has blue forearms with white hands, white elbows, and white thighs. And a blue chestplate where Thundercracker has silver. And light blue guns.

Speaking of guns, your Hotlink actually looks to be more based on the BotCon toy than on the cartoon appearance.

First off, thank you! These took a little while to get together and it's nice to hear from other people. :D
Regarding Hotlink, I specified the cartoon to point out how hos colors are closer to that than Bitstream's. The botcon toy was of course a massive inspiration.
Eventually, I plan to have a properly dark blue WFC seeker - whether that's a Netflix-Siege Bitstream, the inevitable Earthrise Thundercracker, or part of the Ultimate Doom trio.
I also took some more photos of these guys. They're some of my favorite customs at the moment.
