LEGO Astrotrain
Posted: Wed Dec 15, 2021 6:19 amThis project took me more than 2 years to complete! And 90% of those time I simply lost focus ,procrastinated, and with bouts of builders block. Then I go and start a bunch of other lego projects, now in various stages of completion.
in order to declutter my already crowded brain, I decided to wrap this one up first before the year finally coming to an end (and hopefully one more next week or so).
This project was started after I discovered the Siege version of Astrotrain released 2 years ago could be made better. The aim is to create realistic looking alternates modes , and improved proportions of the robot mode.
Exposed shuttle engines in locomotive mode is one of my pet peeve in G1 Astrotrain , so I decided to conceal them . But the irony is that I ended up with a pretty hollow train at the rear, devoid of any train-like features. I cannot improve on this without making major re-engineering on the whole project.
The colorful stripes on the chest plate was inspired from 3d Fan Toys "Thomas" / astrotrain.
