Combiner Wars Nexus Prime: The whole team.
Posted: Sat May 09, 2026 9:47 pmMy friend is a CW fanboy. CW is the best line ever for him. He just hate the new Legacy combiner that use a skeleton. Even if the combiner looks way better and can actually stand and pose, he consider this "cheating." He refuse to buy any Legacy style combiners.
However, he loves the 13 Primes and wants them all. (Except Star Convoy, who is too ugly and huge for him. He lucked onto a 99% complete Cybertron Optimus Prime for 30$ so it got the role instead.) So, what about Nexus Prime, THE combiners Prime?
I made many CW custom combiners for him so for Nexus Prime, it was a no-brainer. Not only I bought a AotP Nexus Prime to convert it into CW Nexus Prime, I did his whole team too. Because the team is supposed to be "Cybertronian," my friend didn't want any obvious Earth vehicle modes.
All deluxes used a knock-off of CW Blades as a base, that I heavily modified with my on-hand scraps. Why did I used knock-offs? Because we're a bit too late to find the originals in stores for sale below 20$CAN or 12$US.
Also, I did pretty much what I wanted based on the very sparse information I got from TF Wiki. I'm sure that when the ream Nexus members will come out, they will look nothing like my creations, but it's fiiiiine. Let's say they are from another universe.
So, here's the first member, Pinion!
As you can see, the cockpit of the spaceship is a hand for the combined mode.
Next is Cannonspring!
The tank turret is a combiner foot.
Next is Mainspring!
The engine block is the other combiner foot.
Next is Pinion!
I made Pinion a flyer, with the cockpit of the vehicle being the other combiner hand.
Finally, the main member, Chaindrive!
For him, I used the original CW retail Scattershot. It was cheap enough. I also sacrificed a AotP Nexus Prime.
Here's the result of their fusion:
The backpack is set aside for the moment.
So, what to do with the leftover parts when the team is in bot mode?
A dragonfly drone!
And here's the whole team in bot mode'
And in vehicle mode:
All combine to form...
NEXUS PRIME!
I have to be brutally honest. That combined mode is horrendous. The individual bots are super nice and their vehicles are fire, but the combined mode is trash. Combiner Wars combiners can barely hold themselves together unmodified. Add all that extra junk to make the cybertronian vehicle and you get a clusterfuk that can barely stand, being held together by hopes and dreams.
Seriously, once I tasted the Legacy skeleton combiner, I personally can't go back.

I really didn't like all that red on the combiner's chest so I painted it blue. I also swapped around some legs and arms and the end result is much more stable, and much better looking.
NOW, CW Nexus Prime is truly done.
