I just saw this pic:

and was wondering what the best method of achieving such a result would be? I would love to do this to my '77 BB

Drybrush the 'dirt' onto him. Get black or dark paint on your brush, wipe the brush on a napkin so that only a little bit of paint remains on the brush, and brush the paint onto BB. Test it out on a junk toy before.

See that area behind your house? That's the backyard. It is LOADED with dirt.

Get a shovel and get crackin'.

Easiest thing to do is to take a Sharpie, draw a line under the area you want to smudge, and use your finger to smudge the ink. Apply some sealer and it should be permanent.
