Well like the title says, this is my first semi-scratchbuild. Soundwave. The base is a classics seeker, the rest is styrene and tamiya putty. I plan to make a ravage and laserbeak cassetticons for him for now here are some pics of my progress. Please be gentle with the critiques, this is my first scratchbuild, and this was all done in about 8 hours.

weapons, battery compartment door, and the piece for after the head is attached.

He is a little smaller than a seeker. Some of you were wondering what the extra seeker /parts were in my "classics seekers" thread, here he is. Any questions feel free to ask.

well here is a small update:

as you can see I am going with soundblaster. trying out some different paints to see which black I like best. Can you guess where the head came from? teeeheee, I am a butcher.

Hope you like.

well started working on laserbeak, and the backs of soundwaves legs. Right now laserbeak is just a big putty ball. After a few hours of dremeling his body will take shape. Also added a port for headphones or a dc plug to be inserted. (just cosmetic, but thought it would be cool  )

Cool. I've always wanted to make scratch-built parts but I don't know how. All of my custom transformers are either re-colors or combined parts from other robots. Can you give me some advice on how to start?

update:

Loose transformation of alt. mode. Added some minor details. (they are what seem to take up most of the time)

The only advice I can give, is to picture what you want to make. Draw it out, figure out your measurements, and over all size of your bot. Gather proper materials. And have at it. It really isn't as hard as it seems. Just take your time, and have patience.

o.k. update. All I really have left is a few details. Other than that, I am happy with how he came out. The alt. mode is a loose trasnformation. (Don't want to screw up the paint, yet.)

I had suspected that you might be going for Soundblaster. Truly professional.

Yowza! That is fine like vintage wine (except that I hate wine so this analogy is somewhat inappropriate as far as I'm concerned)! Anyway, truly amazing!

 I want one.

BTW, if you make it to Botcon, you definately need to bring that and put it in the art competition, that way I can steal it....er, I mean, so you can win, year that's it....

Now all you have to do is make castings of each part and mold everything out of plastic in the right colors so you don't have to worry about paint....Though that might be overdoing it.

Hasbro Executive- "No No No! This is ALL WRONG! Where's his diaper?! Everyone knows that Sound-Man has an enormous diaper-like crotch that hangs down to his knees! And shouldn't he come with those little white ear-bud things?"

That is awesome! But your paint work needs a bit of improvement. You use a brush i take it?
