Hey all!

Following on the heels of my Protoform Optimus Prime, took the other deluxe class protoform, Starscream, and took a swing at him. Initially, I wasn't going to try it, because I thought there may be no saving him... but I started to realize what my biggest problem with him was... all that gaudy gold color!

The back card of Starscream showed him in silvers and blacks, with red accents. I thought perhaps I would give that a shot... but then decided to try to reintroduce the golds and coppers back in, but in a muted, subtle manor... so it wasn't so overpowering. He's got a base of metallic black, then was built up with increasingly lighter silvers, then detailed with multiple mixed shades of bronzes and coppers (muted), and accented throughout. He was then touched up with black fine-lining and some washes.

The other thing that bothered me the most were his sorry excuse for claws... that didn't even open! So, I dug through my parts bins and found some claws from a Doctor Octopus figure (one of the smaller ones that came out a little while back) - and added balljoints to them. I removed his factory claws (adding balljoints to them as well) and made it so the hands were interchangeable. Then I figured what the heck - since I was in the wrist anyhow, I may as well make it more articulated! So now his wrists bend IN, giving him more mobility!

I think the end results are a much more poseable, attractive version of this protoform Decepticon... what do you guys think?

VERY nice.

If you could, I would love to see a picture of him without a bright colorful background like the majority of your pics.

I think the pics are too bright, making everything just seem like a metallic silver. So I think just one pic with a lower brightness and a white or so background would really help show his awesome paintjob.

Thanks in advance, and good job.
