Hi all I have just finished my 3rd and final prime repaint. The first few pics are my previous repaint attempts, first time with acrylics silver and 2nd attempt with enamel.
one day i saw a red peterbilt truck and said hmm, i want that look so here it is my final repaint of prime, all plastic parts are covered by new paint and it took me 2 weeks to complete, luckily done before classes begin.
thanks everyone enjoy!

The trailer came with a 1/32 Peterbilt 379 semi-truck prepainted die-cast model kit. i originally thought that movie prime was 1/28 but that trailer fits him perfectly, and its wheels are exact same size as the leader prime's, woot!

You can get the kit from testor's website.
http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=2732
or a flashier Peterbilt 387 kit,
http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=2321.
both are as red as prime can be.

Heys what if you colour it to look even more G1? (just a suggestion). :D

That final one is amazing!!!
I think the robot mode looks a little odd in that colour but it still looks amazing. The truck mode is absolutely wonderful, the darker red really works in the truck mode.

Just as others have asked, where did you get the trailer???
Oh, & though a G1 repaint of leader Prime would be good, don't waste the beautiful paint job you've got there! No more painting :P Put it up on display or give it to me, either works... whatever you want, painters choice... no? Ok...

Hi all thanks for the nice replies.
I answered the trailer question here, yea it isn't the right forum :P
http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewto ... rt=15&sid=

optronix91 thanks for the suggestion. but a g-1 bot mode look would hurt the look of the truck mode as a few of the blue pieces on the legs are part of the hood. i would definitely try a more g-1 look for another leader prime whenever he's on sell again, but for bot mode only. i actually went with this look not to be entirely g-1 authentic but just to make it look like a scaled model of an average looking peterbilt semi that i see on the road a lot.
sorta like this:

thanks all!

the paint is mostly testors enamel with high-gloss enamel clear coat and a few layers of future floor wax to get that glossy look.
thanks :)

hey everyone for all interested in the paintjob:

the colored parts are:
- enamel gloss-black
- enamel steel
- 4 light coats of enamel metallic-red mixed with 10%
glossblack
- high-gloss clear coat, enamel(2 apps)
- flat-black enamel
- future floor wax, acrylic(2apps)
*lightly sand and wipe with micro-fiber cloth
between apps, helps to reduce paint chipping off easily.
*airbrush pressure: 25psi

*detailing: painted with a needle brush
- acrylic chrome-silver
- acrylic blue/red mixed with gloss black
- enamel copper, gold, aluminum

*weathering: - first layer future wax to prevent oil
paint from eating away the enamel
underneath.
- artists' oil paint:
(umber, ivory black; just umber if
you want a rusted metal look like on
prime's gun, and wipe downwards)
- paint over and wipe away with
micro-fiber cloth.
- lightly airbrush with the the picked
color to reduce the weathered look.
- to get a worn metal look, gently sand
away the the edges to expose the silver
underneath.
- lightly airbrush flat-black on the tip of
the smoke stacks and prime's gun barrel.

*chroming: - Alclad II Lacquer gloss-black base (2 apps)
(this is the most important layer)
- gently polish between apps, the surface
Must be as smooth as you can get or your
chrome will look rugged.
- Alclad II Lacquer chrome
(must be airbrushed at low pressure,
~15psi. Doesn't work with paintbrush
because the paint is much too thin and
flowy)
- 2 light coats of chrome, gently buff
with micro-fiber cloth immediately after
coating, very important to get a reflective
shine, don't worry its not sticky like
enamel. Remember not to coat it excessively
or you will end up with Silver instead.
- Don't spray over chrome with future wax or
any other clear coats, it will dull it.

*use artists' masking tape to cover unwanted parts, can
be purchased at any general art store.
*a final enamel high-gloss clear coat and floor wax to
reduce paint chipping.
