1:25th Scale Movie Style Soundwave WIP

Hey all. Here's what I've been working on lately. It's a 1:25th scale Movie Style Soundwave figure similar to my Swindle/Decepticon Drone found here: http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9541&highlight=&sid=

I'm basing my Soundwave on my Balkan MK6 SW design
Image
and the J. Egerton/Yours Truly Hybrid design
Image while keeping his classic G1 visual cues in mind, of course.

Obviously, I don't have a Balkan MK6 model kit, so I'm using a Revell Humvee Kit, Legos, styrene and bits from Marvel Megamorph figures.

Here's the very early stage:

And here's where I am now:

I've added some height and bulk to his upper body from the early stage pic. He stands at 11 inches now. So in the real world, he'd be about 23 feet tall. As you can see, he has a lot of posability.

I'm at the point now where I will paint the figure before I put all the shell parts (WIP 2B pic) in place for good. I will be following the Balkan MK6 color scheme so most of the bot at this point will be black and light grey. The rest of the shell will be the blue gray color. And I still need to build the finished head, which I really look forward to.

Thanks for taking a look and for any comments you might have.

I used lots of parts (many modified) from several Bionicle and Exo-Force lego sets. Not sure which sets. I've dumped all the parts into one box and threw out the rest. I've been collecting clearance Legos for the past few months, so it's hard to remember what sets I bought. I try to stear clear of the wacker colors. I look for sets with mostly grey and black parts. Joints especially.

Oh OK, I'll just habve to go thrue the parts then.

Oh have you noticed, there's a box full of Binonicle parts you can buy, it's like 5kg of varius parts, for like €7!

Wow... that's looking kick-arse. It's gonna be beautiful when it's done.
And it's reminding me of yet another fig I need to go back and work on - a scratchbuild Decepticon tank based on Bionicle bits...

That looks great, can't wait for the finished version to be completed.

How many hours of your life has this taken from you so far?

Honestly, I have no idea. I just work on it for a few minutes here, an hour there when I'm not doing more important things. Since I'm doing this in my spare time for fun, I'm in no big rush. I hope to have this stage painted this weekend. We'll see...
