Beast Wars Windracer (Repaint)

So a few months ago I got a KO Terrorsaur at Biglots. I wondered what I could do with it (since the colors were awful), and after doing some doodles in class and in Photoshop, I finally figured it would become the base for my Namesake's Beast Wars design (since she was also a pterodactyl in the HMW game for a short while).

Robot Mode:
Image
^ one of her helmet antennae looks crooked... that's because I broke it off while reassembling her. >>; Hobby glue's holding it in place, but I couldn't get it to fit back the way it was before it fell off.
Image
^ Now this angle, I like, since she actually looks femenine from the side...

Altmode:

I took those stupid teeth off and painted it to look more like a solid beak, and also tried to paint on some decent eyes since the KO had like, nothing...

An albino pterodactyl with yellow spots! Oh noes!

Like I said in the HMW Character pics thread, the KO's mold is pretty bad. I had to x-acto ungodly amounts of flash from limbs, posts, even the beast head. The hinged post that the pterodactyl's head sits on was molded all wrong, and when I transform her into robot mode it won't fit into that groove properly. As a result Windy can't stand without leaning on something. Gonna have to hit it with the dremel sometime soon to fix her balance problems. XD

Also, I learned that the entire head and crest assembly I puttied in wouldn't allow her head to clear when I was changing her back into robot mode after I'd taken the beast mode pics, so I had to break the whole thing off. :/ I just went back with paint to paint on her trademark gold crest and "v" antennae, since there's little to no wiggle room when it comes to the Transformation. I could glue it back on and try to sand it down a bit more, but I'm not sure that would work... Oh well.

Other than that I think I'm getting a little better at this. My biggest kitbash/repaint to date (since I started out with the LOC's). Comments/ crits/ whatever else is welcome. :)

Fanks. :D

Gotta go back to Biglots sometime soon to see if I can get anymore KO's... I think a few of my non-BW characters could use BW designs... :-?

I'm quite unfamiliar with that character, to be honest. My TF Knowledge spans from Armada and onward, with just a SMIDGEN of BW and even less G1. ^o^;

My goal was to do some of my own original characters in BW-style molds. I have a general idea for two of them, but the others are all big question marks. :-?

That's pretty damn cool. I'm all in favour of female bashes, god knows Transformers needs more femmebots. What's the quality of the KO like?

Yes! Power to the fembots!

To be brutally honest... it's awful. XD Joints don't sit right, easily broken, mold was completely off (and thus I had to do a lot of dremel-ing to make parts fit together and transform properly...), even the face was asymmetrical, which is why I've resisted giving a close up of the face... The molding of the optics is literally crooked. Ah well. Given how cheap they are it's not too surprising, though...

Anyhow; just a few more stoopid pix, since I fixed the post the pterodactyl head sat on, resolved her balance issues (for the most part), and her crest now clears the chestplate when transforming. It looks small and a lot flatter, but... hey, since when did TFs ever represent their cartoon/comic alter egos accurately? excluding Masterpiece TF's, dangit. XD

Image
Bahaha, I had to put A. Wheeljack (ok, technically Rampage...) into one of these. Even though they're from totally different continuities at this point, it's the novelty that counts. :P

I do have the intention to make an Armada/Gon/Tron version of her someday, too, though... Preferably with the use of a Revoltech as the base fig (either one of the Evas or that chick from Black Lagoon)... but I digress.

The three stooges!

Just a comparison between all three of my kitbash/repaints, I guess. Carry on. XD

Looks pretty good. I've seen those KOs, and they are kinda cheap, but good bashing fodder.

That's looks great.
What kind of paint did you use? A lot of kitbashes I've seen the paint just doesn't seem to sit well on the figure, but that paintjob seems to lay on the plastic just as well as a any regular figure.

Thats bloody great, which i could do repaints and stuff, but I'm ham fisted, I'm the guy that when making a model, glues the model to various body parts
