I'm just starting out doing modifications and I decided to start out with an easy one. I used Jin's guide for creating a LED lightbar for movie Barricade (
http://www.angelfire.com/mech/jinsaotome/WorkspaceSetup/BarricadeLights.html) and I decided to see if I could adapt that for Recon Barricade. I switched out the red LED for another blue one and I think it turned out pretty good:

Oooh, very nice indeed. Great work for someone who says they're just starting out in the world of TF modding.

soldering in that little guy is a pain in the ass. I had to switch out the blue for a double red for ratchet - it was a soldering nightmare. I ended up throwing out about 5 of those light kits because the circuitry just melts when heat is even remotely close to it.

I messed up two before I got it right. I found that if you remove the old soder completely and use new soder when attaching the LED, it works much better. I used some soder wick to draw off the old stuff.
I did melt one in half because I had the sodering iron too close as well.
