Jin's Custom Movie UNICRON! "Proceed on your way to oblivion."

Unicron... definatly the biggest and meanest Transformer out there! I've had request after request for a custom of him but didn't know where to start. Should I do a repaint or rework the Armada one? Maybe turn Primus into a Unicron since he already had the planet spikes? Then it hit me while browsing the toy isle as I came upon these 'Neo Shifter' kits that rolled up into a ball. A planet-looking ball! They resemble Bionicle figures and I picked out the best Unicronish face I could from the different characters.
I used holiday icecicles for the planet spikes, Omega Red tentacles for the planetary rings, Patlabor/Microman armor where he needed it, and Chaos Lucifer's horns. The horns attach magnetically to the robot head or the planet surface. The chest grinder launches out (made from the wheels of something) and extends from the chest in planet mode so Unicron can eat him some planets. The eyes/forehead light up which I think is the coolest feature ever, giving him a really wicked look. You can even use it in Planet mode to light up the inside core of the planet!! Overall, favorite TF custom I've ever done. Thanks everyone for suggesting him!
There's a lot more pictures on my main page if you click the link under the pics. Don't miss em!

really awesome Jin!
I actually picked one of those toys up for parts. I used the hands for movie starscream's hands!
Gotta love the mini-ball guy too.
for $10 those things are a steal!

He's 13" tall to the tip of his horns. And yup, went with a devil-look as he's referred in the Transformer's lore to one.

Yep, I'm pretty impressed with the Neo Shifter sets. Not quite as easily interchangable for different looks as Bionicles, but nice designs.

Very VERY Impressed!
Great Improvisation! I love how you didn't even use an existing Transformer to make him!

Wow, that is insane!
I like him, just his head seems to be real big, so he can eat real big chunks at once!
The light up function is awesome!

I wish Hasbro would make toys like this. This version of Unicron fits in perfectly with the techno-organic look of the movie transformers or the beast machine line.I have just one question, what type of paints do you use or would recommend for first-time customizers?

I'm suing because you're too good. Seriously, UNICRON?
The only negatrive is he's too skinny, not bulky enough for me.
I suppose next your turning your car into Sideswipe.

I really like him, Jin. One question though...could you have possibly used the Darth Vader/Death Star Transformer as your base figure?

Okay, that's just nasty. Nasty AWESOME! You never cease to amaze, Jin Saotome.
What are these "Neo Shifters" kits of which you all speak? I don't think I've come across them yet.

He fits in with the style of the Movie figures very well. He looks like an insectoid metallic alien.
But he is well proportioned, so thus he cannot be a true Movie character!
Love logging on every Monday and seeing your works Jin.

Maybe if I wanted to just make a different kind of Unicron but it's too bulky/solid to fit into the 2007 movie designs in my opinion. I needed something more 'framework' like the characters in the movie had, lots of pistons and floating armor plates. The Neo Shifters guy was perfect. I might use that Darth if I ever did a regular Unicron or Primus tho.

Thanks! You can find these kits at K-Mart, Toys R Us, anywhere Mega Blocks brands are sold. They're in the Lego isle.
And LMAO guys! My ego is only the size of Unicron's planet mode now, hehe.

yeah, this darth vader would make a nice G1 unicron, but not movie style.
