VP/Alpha Trion again...

I know it's been done a gajillion times before, and I wasn't going to jump on the bandwagon.
But the other day I realised that I had a far better use for my Energon Bulkhead than slightly repainting him into Springer; this use involves a new head. So I took Bulkhead's head off him, and realised he had some potential...

I separated both Bulkhead and VP's heads, and did some clipping and filing so the two halves would fit together. A connecting post came from some styrene tubing and the rim that stops the head from coming out was a thin styrene strip cemented round the bottom. A semi-circle of thick styrene forms the neck (filling the gap between the chin and the torso). And a little beard cut from a sheet of thin styrene finishes him off.

I've painted him simply using Citadel Boltgun Metal and washing with Tamiya red and blue clearcoats.

Pretty slick, and somehow I missed this thread too. I don't get how I keep missing threads.
Not sure if it's better than the Vector Prime head. *looks for more pics* eh, hard to tell. need to dig out pics of cartoon A3.

Thanks, all! I basically spotted the resemblance while I was thumbing through my MTMTE book. It's not exactly the same by any means, but I thought it was close enough that'd resemble A3 with a couple of minor tweaks. I kept the back of VP's head so that the transformation would still work properly.

I definitely think it looks a lot more Alpha Trion-ish than the VP head. VP reminds me more of the Last Autobot from the comics...

heads are always tricky to get spot on as there are so many takes on each face from comics to cartoons, but either way i saw it was A3 as soon as the pics loaded up, thort ud sculpted the new head from scratch too, it looks awsome

Glad he's going down so well, thanks.

I am indeed. Nothing major, just a few tweaks here and there. The main changes I'm making are to modify the chest - I hate the gaping hole in his abdomen, and I have no use for the cyber-key feature, so that'll all be getting reshaped. The other thing is the wings - the existing ones don't look Alpha-Trion-y (is that a word?) enough for me, and the crappy rubber things are already bent out of shape, so I'm replacing them with something a little more sturdy and suitable.

Ramrider, I would suggest keeping the Cyberkey feature, but change his cyber-key into the ?Key to Vector Sigma?. It isn?t that hard to do, you simply cut the actual key part that actually fits in the slot from the rest of the key body, and make a new key body in the shape of the Key to Vector Sigma. You?ll need to add a post for him to hold onto it, however. There is a thread around here that shows some Cyber-keys turned into Keys the Vector Sigma. I?ll look for the link.

EDIT: Found the link. Here it is: http://www.tfmaster.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38972#38972

Nice idea, and really well pulled off, but the only real function for the key would be to activate his sound effects, which as I've stated elsewhere, generally just wind me up.
I'll probably find a way to keep the feature active if I want to use it (most likely with some kind of button), but I find the Cyber Key port kind of obtrusive, so I'd rather blend it in more with the rest of the torso.

On top of which I have no real love for the Key to Vector Sigma thing; that's mostly just a 'toon idea. I consider AT to be the guardian of Vector Sigma and its secrets, not of a key. And if there is a key, it's most likely the Matrix (as in Rebirth).

Thanks! Yeah, it's just a tiny piece of thin styrene cut to shape and glued to the chin.

Well, even his Dreamwave write-up mentioned the Key. It also makes sense that the Guardian of Vector Sigma wouldm have the key to unlock it. And, if you?ve seen my custom Alpha Trion, the port is not really that obrusive.since the opening blends in with the belt-line.

Image Also, it has sound effects whether or not you have the key in place anyway. The key just changes the effect made when the sword arm is moved.
