Hey all! My new bash, that is near competion. Sorry for the Alt mode tease, but Bot mode pics will be up tomorrow as soon as I finish the paint details on him. Probably the most time I have spent planning a bash (mainly because it took me forever to find an extra Alt Prime!), but I hope it shows. Bot mode is definitely my fav, and I don't think you guys will be disappointed. Heres the truck for now! Let me know what you think.
Edit: Special props go out to Squall for the inspiration (and the KC lights!). Once I saw his Arm Megs paint job, I knew Hoist had to be done! Thanks Man!

That's so perfect! I never would have thought of utilizing Groundbreaker's rig like that! The truck itself is a very faithful rendition, too.
Can't wait for the Bot mode--it might help give me some insight to how to do up Trailbreaker.
And I'm assuming you recycled the Prime head in some capacity? I mean, the mask is already there. Ah, whatever--we'll find out soon.

Now, thatis what Squall should have made instead of Armada Megatron. I am probably one of the few people who did not like that custom, and still don?t. It never looked right to me. This does. It is a perfect match for this model. Well done.

You know SW, I am glad that yo u didn't know what the crane was from. I was hoping it wouldn't be immediately recognizable. I love that I was able to keep the retracting cable function that it originally came with. The lift actually comes off in botmode and transforms into a repair platform, there was just no way I could incorporate it into the bot transformation. The wings (which you can see in the 2nd pic) snap perfectly into the bed of the truck.
.....and I think you will be surprised by the head that I used!
pics tonight!

Landmine, that was it. Why the hell did I call him Groundbreaker?
Looking forward to the next set of pics!

Sculpt-Bot: I actually did not recognize it at first. :/ It wasn't until I saw the base that the crane is attached to that gave it away... And then the "wings" (as you so call them

) are also Landmine. I must say very excellent choices for all such parts...

Awesome!
I got a wip Alt Hoist head that im doing it's almost finished made from a Deadend head and K.O. Prime looking head and super sculpy for the details, once it's finished im sending it off to bumblebee1251 along with my Alt Sludge head so if you like you can by one for your alt Hoist I don't know the size of the ball joint on Optimus or if dead end's head will fit but hopefully none or little work will be needed to make it fit.

Ouch...
Great job Sculpt-Bot! I'm glad I could at least inspire! I saw this too when I was making Megatron...and my first thought was "boy, this is gonna piss so many people off when I pull the ol' Armada switcheroo on the G1 guys..."
This really does look perfect though! Its amazing how versatile the Prime mold really is...and how most people complained about him...but for kitbashing, he's almost a blessing!
Great use on the decals, and even better use of Landmine! and way to use those tires...(I saw them posted in another thread somewhere...I think it was you...or maybe Lobo...over at TFW2005.com?)
Those lights were real easy to do right? Makes it seem like the mold was made for them huh?
We're all "impatiently" waiting for bot-mode...

Hey Squall, You did a beautiful job on the craftsmanship, I just don?t like the whole concept. The choice of character just doesn?t work for me. Never did and never will. No offense intended, just personal preference. Personally, I don?t like the Alternator?s Optimus Prime. It just doesn?t look like Prime to me. It?s totally the wrong vehicle mode. Turning an Alternator?s Prime into Hoist, on the other hand, is a perfect choice.

Its cool!
I guess this pic of Trailbreaker is also more your style...(no I'm not making it...it was just a mock-up)

Guess Scult-Bot could make this to go with Hoist!
Man, we have to wait till tomorrow for bot-mode pics.....what a tease...this is almost as bad as having people at the Comic Convention telling us how cool it is...hahaha
Again...great job!

here you all go! Istill have a few paint details (and the crane deck transformation ) to work out, and then I will be submitting a gallery here. His head is actually just G1 Hoist's head (exactly the same size as Alt Prime's , which makes the transformation work well) painted up some more. Hope you all like him!

Wow!
You're right. I AM surprised. I never would have thought the original head would work so well on an Alternator. He just look absolutely fantastic.
I've always had a soft spot for this character. Hoist was one of the handful of first Transformers I ever owned. The one I had LITERALLY wore out. Nothing ever broke, per-se, it just fell apart. Pins fell out, legs got loose, sections came off. I have one now that I got off Ebay for a steel a few years ago, (original, before the reissues) and it's absolutely pristine and complete.
I love the wings. They bring out the character all the more. Fantastic paintjob, and great job overall!

That is what I am talking about!

Well done. The head does look a little small, but if a larger head would interfere with the transformation, you gotta do what you gotta do. i can?t wait for the gallery.

wow, very nice work. The little detailing you did (e.g. bottom of front fenders) are nice touches. A gun in place of the hand would be a nice touch.

*nods* It might look a bit better with a gun-arm, but when you look at this bot.... it's amongst the best KB's I have ever seen, fantastic work Sculpt-bot.
If you intend to give him a weaponarm, you might not need to wreck a Shockwave (g1/shackwave/ko/etc.), consider purchasing a transformax imitation transformer (5$ I think, at local stores or ebay), it's wing cannons are suitable in size I think and the rest of it is good for spare parts in KB-ing.
(I'm busy KB-ing one at present and find it a wondrously usable model)

Thanks all! I am glad you like it. I am working on making the right hand removable, to allow for the gun hand. I didn't want to mess with it too much, but the more folks talked about it, the more I feel it would really sell this as Hoist. It would have to be removable though because of the clearance available in truck mode.
Squall: love the TB pic. If I hadn't made Trailbreaker out of Swindle already I would give this a wack. And you're right, the KC lights were SO easy to attach. I have really stocked up on the X-Mods clearance stuff from Radio Shack. The body panels and such really expand the possibilities of making new characters.
Gallery should be submitted soon!
