MP Inferno

G'day folks

This is my first post so please bear with me. I have a few repaints and kitbashes in progress that I'd like a little feedback on before adding the finishing touches. Here's my repaint of a MP Ultra Magnus into one of my personal favs - Inferno. I'm waiting on a few Alternator Red Alert sets from Reprolabels so I can finish him and do a Red Alert to keep him company. I was also thinking of adding the black sections to his upper arms.

Any other ideas??

Wow! That works surprisingly well! You can see how the original head was also used, but you did some great add-ons to it. Great paint apps too.

I definitely like! ;)

Wow, that actually works pretty well - nice job! Great work modding the head into a faithful representation of Inferno's. On viewing the first vehicle mode pic I wasn't sure what was going on, but you converted me fast!
I take it the ladder section is from one of those red Hot Spot knockoffs..?

As for the upper arm section, I'd say leave it as is unless you're the sure the change will improve it. It looks great already!

Anywho... welcome to Transtopia! I hope you have a long and perturbing stay here - and if it's not long, it'll almost certainly be perturbing...

Look forward to seeing more of your stuff! :D

WOW!!! That is nice! I also think the arms are good the way they are but do what you like (it is yours after all). I really like your megatron arsenal display as well.

I was going to bring that up as well, and forgot (d'oh!). How many MPs have you got, anyway..? :?

Thank you so much for positive feedback and the welcome.

I did get the ladder parts from one of those really cheap and nasty knockoffs and although the scale wasn't great - it was cheap.

As for the MP's, I managed to find a couple with badly damaged packing and heavily reduced prices - a kitbashers treasure trove.

just a thought, but the ladder off of RID prime would work great. and they are cheap as hell too. a friend of mine got one in almost perfect condition for $10 shipped.

I had the same thought, but the only RID Prime I found was more expensive than the MP I used, so I couldn't bring myself to give him the chop. Our Australian prices for some items can be a little out of whack.

Either way, I'm still on the lookout for a better option.

WOW!!! Judging from the first pic, I didn't think it would work. But that is truly AMAZING!!! I even love the paint apps. That is just... mind blowing...

Please, I wish to see more of Prime's Wall o' Guns!

Looks great. Can we see pics of the alt mode in side view and rear view? And wouldn't it be easier to use an MP Prime instead of repaint an MP UM? Unless you were able to secure MP UMs at a much cheaper price than MP Prime.

Sorry, don't have any side on views on my work puter - will post some on monday. The side sections still need to be filled in and covered in fire engine stuff. You can see the small black post that fits into the trailer hole which acts as a pivot for the ladder section.

It was only MPUM that I could get cheap, but I also found that it helped to keep the colour even having the same colour base throughout.

Love th paint work, alt mode looks kinda strange, but the bot mode is very sweet.

If you need an RID optimus ladder I have one from a junker that I could sell ya. Its in good shape, I jsut used other parts of the bot so had the ladder assembly leftover. Say ten bucks to include shipping?

Very nice! Monday, more pics, I'll be waiting!

Maybe its me, but would it look more fire engine-ish if you took the smokestacks off the arms? Still has a little of the prime look to it with those.

I've been playing around with this idea in my head as well for some time now. Must say it really turned out well.

Great work.

This definatley looks good. However, if I may make one suggestion? don?t collapse the legs when transforming him into vehicle mode as you would normally doe with MP Prime. a fire truck should be longer than a semi cab and collapsing the legs just makes him too short fore to aft in vehicle mode. If necessary, do like they did for Energon Inferno and make hinged flaps, connected to the tops of the calves, that fold over the sides of the thighs to hide them.

Thanks for all the ideas... I like them all. I will try to find a RID Prime ladder locally, otherwise I might take you up on your offer tentagil.

Now I have a plan. Originally I was trying to build a body for the alt mode but now I think he'll just be a ladder.

Once I have the right size ladder I do plan on leaving the legs extented in alt mode as Tramp suggested. Then I'm going to make a flat plate to cover the whole bed of the truck out of some metal sheet (hopefully with a fine treadplate finish). The ladder section will pivot on top of this plate. The plate will also have tool boxes on the sides to cover the legs in alt mode.

The plate should double as a solid sheild in bot mode.

What do ya reckon?

I'll post some pics when I'm done.

He's look much better without the smoke stacks and with a single front window.

Still, looks good for a first post.
