Alt Ironhide

This project was motivated by two things. Primarily I was inspired by TFM's repaint of skids into Ironhide. Which if mine is half as good as his, I'll be happy. Secondly Hasbro's refusal to release an Alt Ironhide has left me with not many options. This repaint has probably been done a bunch of times by a whole bunch of people but since it's first "official" repaint I thought I'd post it. I say official in quotes because I've had lots of experience in model cars but not repainting TF's.

So far work is coming along although there needs to be touch up on certain parts, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome so far
Questions/comments/suggestions are welcome

Oh forgot to mention, I'm planning on putting in a gun/turret in the back of the vehicle like the one seen in More Than Meets the Eye

Well your expeience in repainting models is very apparent. There's really not that much difference between repainting TFs and models, TFs just have more parts to take apart and mask off first, heheh.

Keep up the good work. :)

I'm convinced, you're a pro! I could use some help/advice from you. I need to know everything you know about painting. No seriously could you give me any advice on painting, ie how you do it and what you use. Sounds like alot, but any advice you can give would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks guys The hardest part has been masking stuff off although I bought some pinstriping tape that they use on cars and its awesome. It lets basically no paint through at all.

Ok so he's nearly done now just a few more parts to paint. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to make him a little taller and more bulky because next to some of the other alternators he's a bit small

Hey Acebaur it's looking great! I'd suggest removing the back seats from the legs. That would allow you to add styrene or some material to the bottom of the feet so the figure can stand taller. Removing the rear seats will allow the more bulky feet to fit back into the alt mode.

As far as where to attach "high heels" just put material on the toe and the end of the collapsible heel. The feet won't fold back up neatly but that won't be a problem with the seats out.

My $.02 :D

I have removed the backseat top part but was planning on keeping the actual seat bottom, but I may not. I cut the hinges off it so its flat now to allow the feet to fold in.
