In the cartoon Swat Kats The Radical Squadron there's an F-14 type jet called "Turbokat"

So, my plan is made a Transformer version of the Turbokat using a KO Robot Masters R-Blade as base.

I didn't watch Swat Kats. Is that supposed to be the same kind of jet? Just wondering if it's the show that took artistic liberties, or if it's just different. It could do with some remolding to look more like that picture though. and I don't know if you're going for accuracy, but shouldn't the cockpit be blue?
I love flipchangers.

About the cockpit, sorry, i don't know how to change the color and keep it transparent. but the rest of the colorscheme is very accurate to the Turbokat.

In tampico there's only one scale model shop, and they don't have testors :( , but the cockpit looks better in red/orange than blue

I have watched the show a couple of times, and their jet is in no way related to the F-14 Tomcat. It is more closely related to a SAAB jet fighter. The only real difference between the Swatkats fighter and the one built by SAAB, is the SAAB jet has only a sinmgle verticle stabalizer whereas the Swatkats one has two.

But what do you think of my repaint?

Not bad.

I like your repaint. Only thing I would have done slightly differently, the red below the cockpit area, I would have painted less red, kept the black with red striped look like in your toon pic. Other than that, no complaints, exept maybe a better camera eventually so we can really see the detail.

Oh, for the record, the plane that the Turbokat looks most like is the SAAB Drakken, a single engine-dual intake delta-wing fighter. The wing design is nearly identicle. Both have the jet intakes built right into the wings, and, as I said before, the only real difference is the number of verticle stabalizers.

Here's a few pics of it: http://www.kgwings.com/draken/draken.html

Well, now that we have more pictures of the alt mode, we have a better look. You could still do with a better camera, but what can ya do...
Like I already said, it's not very accurate, either in mold choice or paint application, so I'll take it as an original inspired by the cartoon. (and I do like the small details like the blue on the wing flaps being in separate blocks, the thin, subtle red border around the cockpit) It looks pretty good for that. I would keep a close eye on the red, blue and yellow clashing with each other too much. the red and blue are applied over more surface, although the yellow is the brightest.
I think one of the biggest improvements you could do would be to paint the vents on the part you painted yellow. that's also probably the most difficult. perhaps you could do it with a paint wash.

I think they look very different. the shapes of the intakes both on the top and the front. the cockpit on that Drakken goes all the way back into a thruster while the Swat Kat one flattens, and has two thrusters under completely flat surfaces.
they both share the overall 5-sided shape on top, but the Drakken's is much more stretched out, and perspective can't account for enough of that.

Va bien Sturmvogel!...
and now for the spanish impaired :).
Reading this thread and seeing ravage x-9 Avatar, it should be a good idea make a cat-like head for the bot (I was thinking something along the lines of Beast machines cheetor), ?cause as long as i remember all the characters in the cartoon were anthropomorfized animals.

Hey Sturmvogel,

This looks really good! I think the reason the jet looks so different from the pic is because the wings are open. Your painting of details is coming along very well I might add!

Looks like a pretty good repaint, from what we can see. I've never really seen the show, either, so I can't comment on the choice of jet. But I am liking the colourscheme. Nice job.
I'm also liking ZZ's cat head idea. What d'you reckon, Sturm, you up for it..?

I dunno... these guys are basics and Cheetor's always been a deluxe. the head might be too big. unless you take the one from BotCon Cheetor. Heheheheheh. expensive. :)

has there never been a basic sized cat character (beastwars and on)? How about Energon Ravage!

Actually, yeah, he's got a pretty beastly robot head. That could work nicely, possibly with a bit of modding.

Energon Ravages head is still twice the size of that figs head!

If there is a mini KO Ravage with the right size Sturm is the man who can find it. May the Force be with you.

Unfortunately there's no mini-ravage

I wanna see this and the RM works as one of the last galleries in Transtopia.
