I'm auctioning off my 2nd MP Mirage prototype this week if anyone's interested.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220079497937&rd=1&rd=1

I'm almost done with the final version. Mostly, just tweaks and small enhancements have been achieved like the wheels being more accurate and the fit being tighter. But it's coming along.

Sweet SWEETness!! That is one fine looking WIP
JAF!This is one of the projects on my list of things I want to make before I die - you've done an awesome job so far - it looks very clean, and the car mode seems flawless!!
The only thing that might be of concern is the skinny waist - is it possible to give it more bulk? Then again, Mirage always was a bit skinny, wasnt he?
Cant wait to see this finished!

That rocks man! Like the Crook said, can't wait to see it finished. The proportions are all good and it doesn't look over complicated... worthy of MP status in my book.

Looking good so far. Only criticism from me is the feet, moreso in alt mode. They look a little on the chunky side.
Very nice progress overall tho.

THAT'S how you do it! The issue with your first Mirage was the short-stubbed nose of the car. Though, now there are other Alt/TF toy bodies to work with.
Speaking of which, I can't place the hips/upper legs. What toy are they from?

Dang Jaf! I wasn't sure if we'd see any more work from you, and then you hit us with this! Amazing!

Thank you!

Hey man. Considering that you still owe me a MP Jazz (Since I only sent you half wayyy back when) can I just send you the parts you need and that same Model Kit (Wich I also have...funny, I was ganna use Alt SS arms too) and you can make that for me??
Let me know. PM me...

Thanks for the feedback gang. The waist is too skinny. I realized after reading CC's post that I forgot to include the back of the car's cockpit/seat. With that piece in place the hips look more full. The feet in bot mode are just what I was going for. In alt mode though I think I need to disguise them more.
And DEV, there's way more coming down the pipe from me (at least in my head

)
This bash uses parts from Alt Prime, Sideswipe/Sinstreaker, and Skids.
TFM, you have the F1 car kit for Mirage?

Yeah, at first I was thinking to suggest a bit of a remold, but that would probably hurt your bot mode.
Looking at the pics again, you could probably disguise them with colour (you may already have planned?). If you do the piston-looking part in the center in a silver or white. The rest in original black or a colour that complements the frame.

TFM, you have the F1 car kit for Mirage?
Yup, and I pretty much got the same parts cut up the same way as you do.
I have that exact kit. (mine also had the decals for the kit but they were yellowed so any white I would have to paint muself.)
Also, if you do this for me I anly ask that you use the Alt Deadend of Sunstreaker head and use that for mine if you can. You won't need to paint it at all, just put it together and transform. (Also make sure all parts are stiff and stable)
Let me know.

Great Work! I would'nt change anything.
I read the replies and my opinion is to keep it that way. Keeps the G1 80's toy spirit with what we always wanted...more posability.
Now he needs a great paintjob.
Hope he gets a face resculpt!

I think I actually like this face more than sunstreakers, but it does need those side vents... I don't know, I'd model them after the Classics head sculpt. I think they nailed it (just the head that is). Other than that, this guy really is looking spot on.

I'm absolutely loving this. I really think it's nigh spot on, and I think the only thing I'd alter is the head; as has been said, the vents would really make it Mirage, although not necessarily Streaker's.
I wanted to do an Alt Mirage myself a while back, but I couldn't find a good kit and figure out how to transform it.
I don't think I'll bother now, you've nailed it.

Here's an update. Almost done except for a few reinforcements and details. The eyes are yellow/gold but the top light hides that.

most impressive. Definitely deserving of the name masterpiece. So a couple questions. Are the forearms turned that way because it is necessary for transformation, or is it because the door panels cover most of that side anyways? And can he stretch his arms out side to side, or do the door panels get in the way of the shoulder? One more, are you planning to touch up the lumpy crease below the 26, or is that just in the one picture, not really that noticeable in real life?

Yes.
can he stretch his arms out side to side?
Yes, about 15 degrees short of straight out.
Are you planning to touch up the lumpy crease below the 26, or is that just in the one picture, not really that noticeable in real life?
No. It's highlighted because of the toplighting in that photo.
Thanks for the questions Jimsloth!

That is some really nice work. The finished head looks really good too. All the little details help capture the character.

Other than a coule of gaps in vehicle mode, this bot looks great.
