hi guys !!!

Well i,ve been talking for a while about the possibility of doing a metroplex !! 3 1/2 feet high to be exact and will transform into a city like you could,nt imagine !!! the robot will retain 95% of it,s g1 aspect and well the alt mode is where all the difference will be !!! i have very ambitious goals for this one and i hope to be able to fufill them !! also note that metroplex will be FULLY articulated and nothing will be neglected ....i will have questions for you guys later but for now i will leave you with this one ... what do you preffer ? the visor types eyes or the 2 eyes aspect... and also what color ? red or blue.... i have many options and i want to have everyone opinion on this one.... also note as well that is project will take about 6-7 months to complete with the current productions and other projects that i have !!

so without further interuption i give you metroplex marksprojects's style (ps remember it,s only in it,s infancy so there will be many changes):

so let,s hear your comments !!!

I agree with red, after all, he's one of the VERY few G1 autobots to have red eyes in the toon (generally a decepticon trait), but I like the visor used in the toon and old comic:

lookin good, why not go with 2 eyes and a visor, could even have differant colours eyes with LED's , it woudl add more functionality to the finished bot

kinda like the slide down visor the kiss hotrod has... that would be perfect.. give him two eyes that are blue.. and the slide down visor red kinda like an attack mode...

That is only true with the original cartoon. With the toys, the colors of the optics varied widely from bot to bot regardless of alliegiance. Some Autobots hads blue, some silver, some red, some yellow, some black, etc; some Decepticons had gold optics, some yellow, some red, some violet, some sivler, some black, some blue, etc. There was no consistancy except in the cartoon, and even then it wasn't always the case. Metroplex always had red optics whether it was toy or cartoon. The only difference in optics between his toy version and cartoon version was visor or eyes; the toy had actual eyes, and the cartoon gave him a visor. That is the only difference.

We all realize that Tramp, Gawd jsut prefers the toon blue eye aesthetic and would like to see it brought to this version along with the Red visor design. Its his opinion, not all of us are locked into making figures identical to either toy or toon design, alot of us jsut like taking what we liked from different versions and combining them.

Oh boy! that's a huge Metroplex!!! Any headaches on the fixations??
At that size, an autobot city mode would be quite proportionate.
Hope to see more pics as it goes. Extremely promising!

And since you asked for our opinions, I'd go with red visor.

You obviously didn't read his post

"Its his opinion, not all of us are locked into making figures identical to either toy or toon design"

Tentagil wasn't saying that Metroplex had blue eyes, he was merely saying that Gawd prefered autobots with blue eyes.

Anyway, this is getting off topic, Mark, I would say go with red eyes simply because most autobots have blue and red would look pretty bad ass especially if you could make them light up

Okay, what I meant Tramp was that most of the Autobots in the Toon had blue eyes. Regardless of if Metroplex did or not Gawd liked the idea of brining blue eyes over. Acebaur Prime realized that, you jsut can't get past the idea that all versions of a figure should be one for one duplicates of their source. Its doesn't matter if it matches the toy or the cartoon much. 90% of the toon figure designs could never really transform as they do without melting/morphing form one form to the other, and most of the G1 toys in reality aren't that great of designs either. Personally I agree with Gawd though, Blue eyes with a red Visor over them would be kinda cool.

Regardless this is Mark's creation and he'll pick whatever colors he likes. SO far its looking incredible, and I'm sure whatever design he goes with for the eyes/visors and whatever color he picks it will be done with care and the same great skill he's sown in all his customs and which is already showing in the frame work he's already done on this guy.

"Its his opinion, not all of us are locked into making figures identical to either toy or toon design"

Exactly.
I personally think red is the way to go just because the original looks perfect the way he is, but a bot of this size can have whatever color he wants and still look perfect.

ignoring color, the idea of normal eyes that light up under a visor would make me love the figure all the more. Makes both the toy and the toon fans happy. I think Energon Landmine had that, right?

Sweet! My favorite Transformer as a kid. My mom bought me a box of Tformers at a garage sale when I was in 4th grade. Metroplex was one of them. No accesories except the tank, but that didn't matter to me. He sits on one of my shelves today just the way I got him almost 20 years ago. I can't wait to see him finished.
Fort Max eat your heart out!

That is amazing man! He's going to look so amazing when he's done.

Oh, and does your keyboard still have an apostrophe button? If not, I probably have a junker laying around you could have :)

Agreed. That would look very good. And a TF of this size, should have special features. Light up eyes (under a visor) should be the very least. It would also be amazing if you could built in lights in city mode. Window lights obviously, but what about street lights?

actually all that has been mentionned are things that are planned to be on metroplex... as for streets lights it will depend on the configuration that i will do ...that's the reason why he's so big ... the bigger it is the more details will be on him... and special features of course !!!

You're bloody mental, son.

Seriously, it's looking awesome so far, although I agree with Tramp that the upper legs look a little odd - still, as you said, it's all a WiP, innit? As for the eyes, I also go with two shiny red ones, like the toy.
And are you sure that's only 3'6"? Looks bigger to me..
