Classics Sunstorm

Here's my take on a version of Classics Sunstorm. I know a lot of people who are repainting the seekers are going for a G1-accurate interpretation. But I wanted to do something a little more unique than that. So I decided to make Sunstorm as if he was part of the new line, with completely different "paint ops" than his e-Hobby G1 self. So, he's got new detaling on his wings , and lower legs and a few different details here and there. I also didn't want him to be yellow like Hasbro seems to think he's supposed to be.

Also, in the first pic, there's a slightly improved Starscream..I basically just added red onto a few places on his chest where it was just left silver, and I put a little bit of a wash on his nipples.......I mean "chest turbines."

Anyway, here're the pics:

EDIT: Updated the pics. The colors are more accurately represented now. Still not quite bright enough, but it's a lot closer.

Also, a little more exposition about Sunstorm. I didn't want him to be a straight-up pallet-swap of Starscream either. That's why I decided to give him the all new deco pattern.

Also, I'm planning on doing another repaint of the Starscream mold. But I dunno whether to repaint it into Thundercracker, "Harold" (see here for details on him: http://www.geocities.com/regenesis0/jets/ Just scroll down a bit till you see him) or an original paintjob. Suggestions would be highly appreciated!

i love it. Its a little... i dunno, tanner than usual, but that might just be cause of camera. It looks very desert camo. Good job.

Hmm..yeah, the pics made it look a little dull. It's pretty bright in person though. *looks around at my toys for a comparable reference*...The dark orange is about the same as Op Op's orange parts if that helps any. It's brighter than it looks in the pics, though. Honestly. Lemme go tweak 'em a bit more in photoshop to see if i can get the proper color.

I love that two-tone orange paintjob - very smooth, well done!! It kinda reminds me of something you'd find in Macross, but he is an excellent Sunstorm!

Thanks, guys. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It was also my first repaint with which I used Futur floor finish as a clear coat. THAT STUFF IS AWESOME. I used it on most of my Alternators too. Now they actually give the impression that they're painted like their Binaltech brothers.

Anyway, Harold shall be soon forthcoming, hopefully. I've been wanting to do an Astrotrain repaint as well (into his show colors. Yeah Yeah. Sue me for un-originality, why dontcha) and maybe Megatron into Megaplex.

Those will be done after I finish my Link Microman, though. Check my other thread in the custom figures board for (crappy!) pics of it.

I'm really digging the deco too; that two-tone orange really works for him.

But floor polish?! :? I'm surprised that worked.

Yeah dude. It's an acrilic clear coat. Pretty durable, too.

Future Floor Finish is awesome. for $3 you get a big assed bottle that lasts forever, which is fitting because so does the clear coat you get from it :D
