I took him apart, cut his waist in half, filled the gaps (his waist has two hollow spaces, so the two halves had bits shaped like 3's) with epoxy putty, sanded them flat when it was set, measured and drilled a hole in the center of each half, then connected them with an extra hinge pin.

Yes, he still transforms!

Very nice mod, nice & clean. Not something I would do to mine though, I'm happy with him as-is.
