Ratchet: the original

As much as I like the new movie design for Ratchet, I still have a special place in my heart for the ol' box that was in the toon. Alt Skids has begged me from day one to turn him into the Autobots party-boy medic, so after much procrastinating, and a short break from my Dinobots project
I finally got around to painting him up. Still need to do some touch ups on him (straightening the "crosses" on his shoulders, graphics and font for ambulance mode, as well as a license plate,) and he will be all wrapped up. Alt mode pics will come as soon as his clear cote has dried and cured. Comments and crits always welcome!

some areas you should of masked off like the shoulders and the strip also the v on the helmet seems a little higher on the right. maybe a fine line on the areas to make them stand out apart from that great homage.

Hey you said crits welcome and i prefer to be honest on these things rather then just praise like some.. as i say a second persons opinion is always one thing that helps the perfection of a kit bash and give new ideas

No need to justify your criticism, I always take them as they are. I do prefer if they are not something that I already adressed in my original post. Touch ups are coming, and the paint job will be cleaned up. Thanks for the input.

Nit bad so far. It's too bad there isn't any way to have the windshield for his chest or in front of his face.

Great Idea! I would've never thought of that. Just touch up those red lines and he will be perfect. :D

Yeah, I tried a number of configurations when I had him in pieces to see if I could do something like that, but decided I would just go for a straight repaint. He was really just more of a sideline, so I could take a breather from the Dinobots for a little while, so I didn't want to get too involved in him.
Thanks for the comments guys!

Looks great. I would like to see the vehicle mode. I've been trying to come up with a plan for First Aid, but the Scion looked too small for an ambulance. The only other option I've been able to think up is modifying the Dodge pickup.

random thing I noticed with the scion mold, you can mistransform him into a more g1 toy look if you like. Just flip that whole backpack section 180 so the rear windshield and trunk is about in line with the front bumper. Oh and make sure the chest is more perky, you know, up more like the suburu chests as opposed to the 45' tilt you have going in the pic. To me the mode I'm talking about makes it look like battle armor or something.

I'm working on a Ratchet made from a scion that I've created a box to fit over the back part to make it more like an ambulance. When transformed the box will become sort of like a mobile med station like as seen in "More Than Meets The Eye"

I think it looks cool.

If I had the patience to work with white paint, I'd be making a carbon copy of this.

I really like that.

If I can figure out how to make a head crest, I'll attempt one similar to it this summer.

I've always liked the Skids-->Ratchet modification, and this one looks good. Personally, I advocate trim tape for the red stripes, since practically every Ratchet paintjob I've seen ends up with some difficulties making those perfect. Since I borrowed Skids' head to make an Ironhide from a Ram, I used a Prowl head for Ratchet. Just paint the horn, and ta-da! Did you use Prowl's lightbars? Alt mode pics would be nice! I thought about that, but didn't suspect they would look good for a paramedic vehicle, which is what I've always taken Ratchet as. The original toy wasn't even a proper ambulance; it was a vanette modified to be a medical vehicle. Since the Scion is frequently customized, it's actually rather appropriate as Ratchet.
