First new customs in three months! :)

Last new customs for two months :(

I used epoxy putty to make the face plates. Results were decent, but I don't think I'll ever be a sculptor.

Runabout has a new chest, knees, and a newly-detachable hood for use as a shield. Runamok will have the same, but with Sunstreaker as the base mold. I should have Runamok finished sometime this weekend, but Runabout is done aside from small detail work:

Thanks to Supersquad for the advice about the heads :)

Not bad, though I would have just kept the windshield as his chest since that would be closser to his original G1 incarnation.

I'd agree with Tramp there. And although it looks closer to some of the various comic incarnations, I always think it looks weird to have the face plate fall below the bottom of the nose, almost like it's an afterthought. I'd definitely recommend extending them up to just below the top of the nose.

Nice job though.

True, but I wanted to try out the chest mod, and I don't have any other plans for a Sideswipe repaint. Besides, it makes it look dramatically different from Sideswipe, which is what I was wanting from the mold modifications (aside from knees!).

At any rate, all I have to do is twist the figure at the waist to get the 'G1' look, so it's no biggie :)

You could do the chest mode on Sideswipe instead... it does make him look a smidge more G1.

.......and Runamok. I originally painted the chest piece white. However, because of a quirk of the mold and the finicky nature of white paint, I couldn't get the edging around the rear window white without hand painting it. Because of the aformentioned nature of white paint, it looks terrible when you hand paint it. Anyway, I just decided to phooey with it and painted the whole roof black. It affected the robot mode a bit more than I wanted, but such is the way of things. The black does obscure the sawed edge of the roof, though.

He needs some color, but I haven't decided what details to add yet. The original toy has some yellow and red elements, but I think they'd look even more terrible if translated directly to the Viper mold.

I may paint the seats red. That would look neat.

Anyway, progress so far:

I gotta say Runamok came out alot better then Runabout. White looks very smooth and the face looks alot better.

Some finishing touches - added embossed insignias to their hoods/shields.

Nicely done. I'm assuming it's just the lighting, but in the first of those pics, Runabout almost looks chromed...
