Classics Sideswipe

Here is another addition to my classics Autobot army (the cons are going to get their asses kicked!) I took Rodimus and with a few changes here and there he makes for a very good Sideswipe. I cast a G1 Sideswipe head and carefully cut off the top of it. I then cut off the top of the Rodimus head and attached the bit from the G1 cast. I filled the gaps and painted him up. I also filled the exhaust pipes with Apoxie Sculpt, and carved down the engine to modify it into a scoop. This allowed room for the new head. New spoiler and paint job, and voila! Sideswipe. His brother is coing soon!

The G1 rifle fits!

Enjoy!

Very nice. Layouts77 already did a version of Sideswipe from this mould (see
here), but you've taken it a stage further!
I love the use of the head, and the scoop to accommodate it. Are you basically saying that most of the head is still Hot Rod's, and only the top of the helmet come from your Sideswipe cast? I'm impressed that it blends so well.
I have my own plans for the Hot Rod mould, but it won't be looking much like this...

Yeah RR, basically from the eyeballs up it is the cast of the G1 head. Eyes down, it is unmodified Rodimus.

Nice to see it'll come out well.

Looks good. How are you planning on doing Sunstreaker since his transformation and robot mode is totally different than Sideswipe's. I could see this mold being used for Red Alert, but not Sunstreaker.

Sunstreaker is going to be a different deluxe sized mold....not telling yet.

Hmm. Given the transformation (and considering how many Deluxe cars there are anyway) I'm gonna have to guess Bumblebee. Though I really don't see 'Streaker being too happy with that...
...unless it's not a Classic you're using. Energon Downshift springs to mind (there's so many characters I could make from that guy)...

I'd be more inclined to say Cybertron Override.

Neither of those...not getting too held back by transformation being accurate, but I guarantee it will be faithful to the character. And believe me Sunstreaker will be very happy with his new body, it will give him every right to remain the pompous ass that he is.

You have to either shve down the back of the gun or just put a longer handle on it. The peg actually fits in Rod's hands if you turn the gun sideways.

You have to cut off about a quarter inch of the squared off portion, on the back of the gun. Then it fits like a glove!

Good question, there were rumors that they wanted to do Sideswipe and Sunstreaker if the classics line continued, but everything I've heard has the line ended with the Classics Dev release and not returning after the movie.

I have sources and it's not the rumor mill you hear on glorifed sites like tfans or tfw2005 cause most of them get it wrong the only figure from classics that isn't getting consideration is cosmos. I have seen protos for the brothers as well as Ironhide and Ratchet (And Not the movie ones!) as well as a concept design for Octaine (Tripple Changer) which suprisingly looks better in both modes and less Alt mode kibble.
Trust me when I say this Classics is far from over as it's the secondary line besides the upcoming movie figures and yes it will take a back seat untill the movie line dies down, But it's far from over.
and:OMG! HASBRO INSIDER!
