Hey gang,
I've been meaning to post this for a while. This is a commission I did a month or so ago. It was requested that I create an Alicon guard that had joints and appearance of a G1 toy. I had to make up a transformation since the toon cheats that quite a bit. Here's the result.
The beast...

And the bot...

Once the Seibertron galleries are functioning, I'll do a full upload of images.

seriously one of the best bash's i have ever seen, not from a technical standpoint ( not to sound rude and it is VERY good ) but for originality, seeing something no one else has tried and having it at such a high standard always amazes me.if the arcee im working on comes any where near the quality ill be more than happy

Thanks for the compliments! It's about as tall as the G1 Gnaw (a little larger).

Not very accurate to cartoon.
but WOW! it's definately what they should have looked like in the cartoon.

Cartoon accuracy is somehow impossible.
Watched TF movie sequence with the universal greeding...
These guys morph alot when transforming, makin it impossible to be truthful to cartoon. Even more, I'd say that the cartoon is not accurate if there is such a thing.
Anyhoo, this kitbash is great and the results are impressive!
A collectors item definitely

Yeah, "cartoon accurate" is a bit of an oxymoron because these characters change so much from frame to frame, heh. However, if using the original reference drawings for the show/movie, one can get a good idea of what a character was supposed to look like.
Thanks for the comments as usual! Here are some WIP shots:

This shot has the first tail version which was eventually scrapped.

These pics look great
You did an amazing job on this guy
My 2 cents: I'm not too crazy about the pink or maybe it's only because of the camera flash. I really hate to give negative comments and it's not usually my way but it's only a color issue.
I know I can't come up with a fine project like this so It may be best if I just shut up!
Props to you!

Don't worry about it Ptitvite! I love all critiques. I wanted to match the purple/pink used on the G1 Gnaw but it came out a little more pink. This custom was designed to compliment Gnaw.
Thanks again for the interest.

I think the color looks good, I like the cartoonish look. I just got more respect for this custom once I saw the designs you made for it, that's what I call jumping out the page.

I love the wip pictures. Looks like a negative of the character. Where did those legs and waist come from?
As far as finish goes, yes, very g1 toy look. I'd like it more without the sticker type details to be more g1 toon, I rip most of the stickers off the old toys anyways, but if he's being displayed next to a Gnaw with all the stickers it only makes sense.

I'm not 100% sure on the waist, but the thighs look like Cyb Crumplezone to me.
Brilliant job, JAF! Like you said, it's almost always impossible to define 'toon-accurate', but that looks pretty faithful in both modes! And it's a brilliant use of some really random parts..!

All the details look great and that bot mode looks terrific. It looks like the hip joints should be behind the alt's shoulders, but I'm presuming that might be the animation cheat issues you were running into. This is a great design, though and makes me wanna copy it, hehe.

Yeah, well the beast mode is the same in every pic,and the only real changes the robot modes have is wether or not they have teeth.
