OK...I'm gonna give this a shot.
The plan is:
Classics Bumblebee

Image

Will become HOS Bumblebee

Image

These are the parts I'm using so far...with alot of Sheet styrene of course.

Image

This is what I did today...I guess I'm gonna knock the easy stuff out first! I soaked his head in a mix of 1 part pine cleaner to 8 or 9 parts water to strip the paint. That took about 12 hours or so. Once cleaned I used a tiny rod of styrene to make the rivets. I still have more to do but I think it's nice so far.

that does look cool. Just checking on durability, you did drill small holes for each rivet, right? If you didn't, it will be much easier for them to break off, but if you just drill a tiny depth with the same gauge bit as the styrene, then glue the styrene in the hole instead of just on the surface, it will make it ten times stronger.

Yes indeed I did...well actually I had to use a small needle. Didn't have a small enough bit. The needle worked just fine though. Went alot quicker than I had planned. I still need to trim a few down. They are soooo tiny it was hard to get them trimmed down to all the same length. Again, I still got work to do.

Thanx for the input!

That head is very detailed. If I was making that I would be to lazy to make those rivets  , it's just the way I am

Hearts of Steal is a...kinda good...what if Transformer title from IDW Comics. What if Transformers woke up during the Industrial Revolution. Story kinda lacks but the bots are cool!

OK...His head is finished!!

oh so its kinda like war within which focuses on cybertronian forms. This focuses on the industrial revolution. Good job on the head so far.

Brilliant job on the head, DK. Can't begin to fathom how you're going to do the rest, though... :?

Yeah I'm still working on that. I'm going to start working on the upper body this weekend. I think I'll probably pick up some bionicle bits this weekend and see how they work out.

Looks great Deathknell! The details on the head is outstanding! Please keep us posted as the work progresses.

The leg transformation on Classics BB lends itself pretty well to the HOS version. Just a lot of detail work. But you got that down!

The arms shouldn't be too bad. Just mount the shoulder to the chest so they can fold down and over the legs in train mode. Luckily the chest is big enough to accomidate a hinge like that. Then detail up BB's arms and mount them in the shoulder pieces.

OK I decided to start working on the Cow Catcher/Feet...

I picked up a Bionicle set last night. The first pic shows the pieces I used. Middle top is the Classics BB set of legs I'm reusing. I"ve already attached one foot. I had to cut out the black tube piece that runs between the two sides of the bottom of the leg (you can still see it on the left leg) On the left shows the piece I used to make the connector for the foot. I had to cut out the middle of th piece to make it smaller. ON the right is the Bionicle leg I used to make the foot. I cut the end off and trimmed off some of the edges to make fit scale wise. The ball joint fits right into the grey piece and is able to swivle up and down.

Image

The following 3 pics shows the one complete foot attached to the leg. The grey pin will stay in place untill all the glue and epoxy sets up and is strong. Then I'll go in and trim it off leaving the rest of the pin in place. I can then use what I cut off to do the other foot.

Anyways once both feet are in place and secure I'll cut the pieces for the actual cow catcher that I will attach covering the top of the foot (the slanted edge). I'll probably hinge the outer sides so that that part can swing open like they do in the comic.

Well that's odd. The new pics arn't terribly exciting. Just the first WIP of the legs. No real detailing yet. The leg's I think are going to be the most difficult.

Update...

I finished the "skeleton" of his feet and his torso last night.

Nothing is attached permanently. I used a couple of little pieces of sculpty to hold things together for the pics. I still need to take the wheels off of the arms and do ALOT of skinning!

Lobo...notice the slots cut in the torso for the arms so they can fold completely forward and over the legs in Train mode. Good idea man!! Thanks!

It's coming along very well. The skeleton is a good idea for a transformer
