Blackout

Alright, do you guys remember my Bruticus piece? Well, it took a shelfdive today, and while that is nothing new (really SHOULD have given him better legs, damn POS), this time things actually broke. Yep, ouch.

I collected the pieces, dumped it in a crate, and decided to blow off some steam on DonMurphy.Net and look around on TFW2005. That's when I noticed a message posted by Rymond T. that Transformations, the new Dutch TF convention, will have a kitbash contest. I thought "Cool, now I'll have a reason to finish my 1:24 Movie Prime", but that's when I started thinking.

I have a giant broken kitbash that's useless as Bruticus, but which basic frame's still intact. I also have a 1:18 Chinook toy on the attic.

So basically: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v708/Ra88/Blackout%20Kitbash/

Quick PS edit to show what I'm going for:

Well, if all goes to plan, I'll have two movie pieces to take to Transformations. Sweet.

looks cool. Are you gonna use that one bionicle mask for the head. It kinda resembles the head if that mask is used

ha! I love the bad guy from M.A.S.K. (because he flew a helicopter then too)

I think I'm gonna use that as the base of the head, yeah. I'll have to see how I can do the rest of the head, though. Blackout isn't exactly a "calm" design...

Several times I've wanted to use a Bionicle mask for a TF head, but always shot myself down. I'd never have considered that you'd be able to use the actual head for a bash without it looking ridiculous. But yeah, for the movie designs, I can see how it'd fit. Good thinking.

Is Mayhem going to be the holographic 'pilot'?

Hmmn, maybe if I can find a proper MASK helicopter helmet...But he's mostly there for size references.

Skullgrin140 wrote:He looks pretty danm tall!

My guess is that he's about 60 centimeters tall. He's shorter then Bruticus, and he was Fortress Maximus sized.

I think I have that helmet if you really want it.

Not bad so far. The only issue I see is that it doesn't have enough blades on the front rotor, Blackout't rortor is supposed to have six blades. Any chance of finding a rotor with the proper number of blades? Other than that, it is looking top-knotch.

I also remember MASK released a bunch of their figures in colored translucent plastics. I don't think I had this one, but man, could you imagine this guy in clear purple. That would be perfect for a faze shift of the hologram.

Yeah... actually, they were holograms. The standard vehicles split into two parts (for instance, Stiletto transformed from a racing car into a jet and helicopter), and the agent took one vehicle, while the other was piloted by a holgraphic copy.
I've got a few, but I can't remember where the figs are at the mo. But IIRC, they were unique moulds for those vehicles (except possibly Gloria Baker - I think that was just a recolour of her original fig). So there wouldn't have a been a translucent version of this fig specifically - although I'm sure there was one for Miles - wouldhave been odd to leave him out of the fun.

[EDIT] Just found 'em. The series was called Split Seconds. There are a bunch of them on this page; scroll about half way down for most, and there are protos of some of the others near the bottom. Just try and ignore the annoying things driving across the page, they'll stop eventually.

Nice WIP :)

One question, this work will be transformable?

Thinking of a solution. If needs be I'll just cut off all rotors and make a custom base, though I'd rather not do that.

I'm insane, but not THAT insane. :p

That looks very very good. Is it intended to be just a figure or can it transform?
