RM Decepticon Air Patrol -- Part 1: Stormcloud

Expanding on the Robotmasters I'm going to recreate the G1 Decepticon Micromaster Air Patrol. This team consisted of Nightflight, Whisper, Tailwind and Stormcloud.

First of this group to be recreated is Stormcloud. For this I've modified and repainted a MW Skywarp, since they're the same design jet.

I've made the following mods:
- removed the wings on the arms,
- filled up the empty holes in both arms and legs,
- made a new head (around a stump of the old),
- added fuel tanks on the wings,
- removed the missiles on the wingtips and added new ones.

Since I really don't like light purple (or lilac) and think this color is completely unsuited for a jet, I had to decide on another color. Although I've played around with the idea of using a very dark red, I finally used metallic bronze to take the place of the G1 light purple. Metallic bronze is actually a color that can be found on a real life jet.

Besides the metallic bronze most the jet is matt black (made a bit glossier by the cote). Since I've based most of the design on Dreamwave's MTMTE I've gone with a green face instead of the more yellow that appeared on the G1 toy. To break up all the black on the body, I've added metallic steel.

Enough babbling, onto the pics:

And the new head.

When I've got the whole team complete (somewhere in the distant future -- Nightflight will be the next team member to be made), I hope to make a gallery of the whole team.

Hope y'all like 'm.

i like the Concept.

The head reminds me of either a shocked tf or rhinox due to the green on First look but then Looking at the Original i See the look which Came out really well

great mods. Probubly the best version of that mold I've seen (as far as your job filling in holes and moding the jet mode go). And I love the fact that the MMs are getting respect. I've been thinking of taking a Legends Jetfire and turning him into a new sunrunner.

Nice. The new missiles and (especially) the added head are great mods. And I love the color scheme. :)

Thanks for the positive comments.

Doing these mods was a necessity. First since this figure would look to much like RM Wingstun and the Dreadwind I made. Secondly, well as I said, Dreamwave's MTMTE was an important source book for this (as I only have this team as a KO) and in MTMTE the jet mode has fueltanks on the wings so I went for that and while I was at it, added new missiles.

And finally, since Stormcloud his head is completely different from MW SKywarp, that had to change. Initially I tried to make Skywarp's face more like Stormclouds, but that failed. So then removed a large portion of the head and tried to use the face of Luke Skywalker SW figure, but that was too big. So this is actually the third head I made for this figure.

Yeah, was thinking to do that too, but then I saw him in a store and realised the figure was too small for when I'm going to make that team.

Some of the G1 micromasters are really nice. HasTak is already giving us so many homages of the main G1 cast (along with reissues) that I feel the others need some attention as well. Besides making some as Robotmasters, I've also decided up on a small group to be reincarnated as Alts (when I feel confident enough to start working on alts, that is  ).
