non-movie Blackout

Dear God above, I HATE this movie. There is NOTHING good that can come of it. Actually, I mean the movie movie toys. The others (Robot Heroes, Target Energon repaints, ect. Those are awesome) are just awesome. But the movie toys aren't worthy to be scrap.

...Or are they? I got movie Blackout, thinking he'd be awesome. He wasn't. He was out of the box all of 10 mins before he went under the knife. I'd already planned to put a Snow Cat head on him, and maybe change out his hands and feet. As it was, I yanked out the entire arm assembly and replaced it with Evac (a scrapped BW Silverbolt project. Don't use spray paints!) Hollowed out the chest and put in Snow Cat's head, the replaced the feet with Lazer Prime's.

I started painting and went with an urban cammo, but I didn't like the way that looked. So I figured with a name like Blackout, what other color could he be? Fortunately (Thank You, God!) the plastic wasn't vynal based, so it stood up to enamel high gloss black paint.

So, He's in the middle of being painted. I just need to get some other colors on him. I was thinking maybe silver and teal. Any thoughts?

Opinion that Blackout looks better kitbashed, or opinion that the movie is trash?

Thanks Skullgrin!

Can that guy still transform? Good luck with the kitbash.

Have to say that I really like most of the movie toys, and Blackout is one of my favorites.

Thank you! Yeah, I pulled a doomtron on this one, I painted him twice. I should have gotten some WIP pics from the beginning, but I only took some when I started in with the black, and I know it really POed some people. The Urban Cammo didn't look good and I learned an important lesson: turn the flash off when photographing gloss. :D

much better. I always said with a name like blackout and the fact that he's supposed to be all stealth and whatnot, he should be black.

did you use the classic Optimus/ or Magnus's arms for the arms?

That head would be good on Movie Blackout instead of the BW-Inferno like head

Nice work!!

Thats pretty cool work, even though I'm a little iffy on the paint. But then it's yours, so you do it the way you want to. I'm going to attempt my very first kitbash on a movie Blackout, coincidentally. I want his legs to look more like they did in the movie, with the quasi avian look.Would you happen to have any suggestions on how I might go about it without totally destroying the figure?

Wow. Well, I'll tell you what. I was kind of skeptical of how this wold come out at first, but it looks really great! I'm almost surprised it transforms, too. I think its kind of ironic how you used Evac's arms, since Blackout was remolded into Evac :P

Wow, never realized that this got back up and running.

Yeah, the irony of that wasn't lost on me either.

I can sum up my advise in one word: Don't. Blackout is by far the crappiest Transformer I've ever had the displeasure of spending money on, beating out the wave 1 Titanium Megatron, hands down. I did everything in my power to fix this blasted mold, and this is the best I could come up with. So honestly, you can try if you want, but Blackout's legs are like the Winchester House; it has pieces that do nothing.

I appreciate all the great comments guys. It's been a while, and even with all the negative reaction on my choice of paint, the compliments shine through. :D
