Any suggestions to improve the color scheme will be welcome.

The van guy is great, though I think you should make him a SWAT van. That would be awesome.

Thank you, Devastator. Yes, he will be a SWAT van and his name will be SWAT too. I have to ask my wife to design some stickers (she is a graphic designer).
I still don't know what to do with the color scheme of the second one. :(

Towline reminded me a little bit of the inspector gadget van. Now seeing Downshift, he has a bit of the gadget mobile going on too. :D (Could be a bash there for someone else to try)
Maybe you could do an inverse colour scheme, keep downshift mostly white with black on the front end.

The light bars a cool. Where'd they come from?

Retread, you are right, they do look like gadget vehicle.

I want to keep the colors balanced when they combine, so the legs (front part of the car) should be black. So probably I would follow your suggestion.

The light bars come from som generic transformer toys. I bought them just for the lightbars.

For downshift i suggest dark blue, and then turning the green and red stripes into white.
Just a suggestion though.

Am I right in thinking that you are fishing for possible names for these guys? I've got some ideas for some police-ish names....
CODE RED
BREAKOUT
CUFFS
TAZER
HOTLINE
CRIMESCENE
DOWNTOWN
LOCKDOWN
HARDLINE
FLASHBANG
MANHUNT
CHECKPOINT
SPEEDTRAP
TWO-TONE

Since you are doing these with the intention of being a combiner team, why not "Law" & "Order"?

Update on Dowshift:

Law & Order. That makes sense. ANd the combined form? Justice?

Really like the van. Very nicely done and also a welcome change of the mandatory Ironhide/Ratchet repaint (that I still haven't got around to myself  )

The Downshift repaint I like less, to be honest. I think I would follow the Skids repaint and go for mostly black in car mode. Think it looks better and more different from the original. You can always keep the robot mode more white (although maybe the fake chest would look good in black) for the combination. (And I'm also a sucker for TF's that have different colors in the two modes.)

Other then that, it's looking very good and a very interesting idea.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you also wanted suggestions for a name.

How about Crackdown? I use C Crosswise as a security officer and I've called him that. Crackdown means something like: upholding the law with severe measures.

Looking good so far, although I concur with rawhide on the Downshift scheme. I think it's all the 'flashes' of black, which don't really evoke a police feel to me - generally I think of such vehicles as having block colours, either all one colour with just a stripe, or two-tone effects. Personally, I'm picturing black bottom half, white top half; and considering the fronts of the legs in pants mode are on the bottom of the car, the colour of the bonnet doesn't really affect the robot mode colour balance anyway.

As for names, something like Seizer and Shackle come to mind; I can picture the Downshift chasing down a target, and the Tow-Line securing him.
I like most of RSS's names too, although Checkpoint was already used... I think it was the Rodimus SWAT redeco.

I want the robot mode to be more black and the car mode more white. The combined form will be more equilibrated that way. And if you search on Google images of Police cars, there are a lot of them mostly white, or even light blue, with no black at all. It depends on the country. And I don't want to lose the speed vibe of the original colors, just want to make them more serious. Think of Downshift as a futuristic Police car for chasing the bad guys. Many thanks for your comments.

Awesome. I think Towline and Downshift always made the best looking two-figure combiner from Energon.
