So I've been toying with this idea for a while, but I recently acquired a KO Onslaught and figured I'd give it a go. Obviously, I'm trying to convert Onslught (a flatbed truck) to Tidal Wave (an aircraft carrier) so, while they have their similarities, there's still some extra work to be done.

Still, I present to you, Work-In-Progress Nauticon Tidal Wave!

I'm working on a sticker sheet now, as well as sculpting fins and what not to take the place of his wheels.

Once this is finished, I shall be working on repaints of Air Raid and Vortex and resculpts of First Aid (into a submarine) and Groove (into a jet ski) as the other "Nauticons."

Wow, changing Onslaught to Tidal Wave is no easy task. Its looking real good so far. You may want to at a sort of bow to the front of the truck cab or something.

Looks nice so far, pls keep us up to date. Armada Tidal Wave is awesome, it'll be neat to see a G1 slant to him. Good luck.

Alright, small update. I've come up with a name for their combined form: Rip Tide.

While this isn't an update on Tidal Wave himself, it is an update on Rip Tide/Nauticons as a whole. I modded Bruticus's chest shield to look something like this:

And with paint:

I really need to get some other kind of sculpring material. Once this stuff dries, you can't cut it, and you can arely even sand it =/ Still, I like the way this is turning out, I hope you guys do as well

I think that this is a great idea, but I think that he needs to look a little more nautical. If you could figure out a way for his bow to have the right shape to it either by cutting it down or by adding a bit to the front. The deck should also hang off the edges a bit more. You might even think about lopping off on of those cab-halves, and making the other one into a conning tower.
If you're in need of a good epoxy putty on a budget, check your local Home Depot's plumbing isle for Quikwood. It's as awesome as it is funny sounding. It sets in about 25 minutes and it carves really well.
I hope that I'm not coming off as too pushy. This could be really fantastic. I want to help any way I can.
BTW- I have that exact same Combaticon set. Did you get your's at Walgreen's?

Not sounding pushy at all, thanks for the advice

I remember you saying something about that Quikwood (lol) stuff. I work across the street from Home Depot, so I might check it out on my break. About the "nautical" look, I am adding forward facing fins, like on the Armada version, as well as some other stuff to cover up the places where his wheels were. About the cab halves, I think I'm going to leave them basically the way they are, as they should look better once stickers are applied.

Oh, and to answer your question, yes, I did get my Combaticons from Walgreens

Interesting Idea. I reccomend Quick Plastic and Quick Steel as well. And the Black epoxy in the automotive section at Walmart also work quite well. Green STuff and some of the more expensive modelling compounds are great but really only for small detail area.
And once you get to modding the form a bit I would take a page from G1 Broadside. He is actually oddly similar in contruction to Onslaught, Aside from the mose he has joints in a lot of the same places. Superficially anyway.

And I agree about cutting off some of the cab to reference an observation tower but to each their own. Looking forward to updates.

Not trying to make a point but I thought up a neat way to do the dark fleet
Brawl: Destroyer
Vortex: Transport
Swindle: Gunboat
Blast off: Submarine
