For now its Hardhead vs Apeface and Snapdragon

A few quick (and blurry, sorry) pics. I'll snap some more once Hardhead gets some backup.

Chromedome and Brainstorm are in the works as well, from a couple classics deluxes. Hope they don't end up looking too out of scale. Brainstorm's going to need a lot of work, but Chromedome is coming along pretty well.

Took a bit of work, but I managed to squeeze dropkick's head onto rodimus.

They´re not headmasters though... :?
It´s very easy to doo, screw the face of a small head, and screw the face of the desired tf onto it.

Think of it as some time after their head/partner has died. They've been down-sized and upgraded back into individual bots.

I say, that work on Hot Rod is pretty impressive. The top of Dropkick's head blends in rather well with the engine bits coming out of Hot Rod's hood...

I'm not very informed on the different Headmasters, so I will reserve judgement on their homages, but the figures themselves are pretty neat!

Interesting renditions of Apeface and Snapdragon. The vehicle modes are different from what I would of tried, but I like them. Always thought the game controller looked apelike and once considered a Beastbox custom and maybe an energon Divebomb for Squawktalk and the combined mode. I've seen a custom of Cromedome from classics Hotrod. Actually, I've been watching for the movie Incinerator to repaint into Highbrow, and I've considered possibilities for other characters. alooking forward to the rest of your custom headmasters.

I'm working on a KO Optimal Optimus and a mini-con as a Triple changer Apeface with beast trainer. Apeface will retain his ...ahem.."ape face"...and the trainer will transform into the robot head. I removed the vehicle parts and I'm modifying the jet parts. When I can get a KO of RID megs I'll work on a Snapdragon.

Do you have links to pics? I don't know what these Jr heads are you're talking about.

These molds barely fit their existing heads. Would be a lot more involved process if I wanted to keep the master gimmick.

Yeah, I liked evilratbats version and I needed a bash for a headless hot rod. Saw one from clocker as well which gave me the idea for a scaled down hard head. I'd probably do highbrow as a scout too if I could think of a good mold to use. Didn't think I'd end up doing the autobots when I did the real gear repaints. So they might not display too well together because of the scale differences.

Sounds like a pretty good plan. Op's has a good sized cockpit too doesn't he?

I don't know how close my KO OP is to the real thing, but the mini-con that I'm using as his headmaster is too big to fit into the cockpit at the moment. I would like to modify OP for a place for the pilot.

Starting on Chromedome's paintjob now. Well I hit him with a bit of Tamiya racing white first, but I didn't like how it was going on. Closer to plain white than the cap looked as well, so I got myself a can of Krylon River rock.
Image
Flash washed it out a bit, its not that pale in person. Hadn't planned to, but I'm thinking about going two-tone the full length of the car now too. Just whipped up a few digi's if anyone wants to give me opinions.

I was initially gonna do the 1st look. Now I think its a toss up between the second and third.

Paint probably hasn't quite cured yet, but I started putting him back together.

Finishing his legs is the next step.

The jr heads were three headmaster heads that were smaller than others, nightbeat is one of them, here is a link to Hosehead's TFU page,it is one of the three molds with deluxe sized heads.
http://www.tfu.info/1988/Autobot/Hosehead/hosehead.htm
These molds were later redecoed into the "headmaster juniors" for Transformers masterforce. A knockoff head should work,if the screw is in the same place as the official ones.

Read my post? the jr heads are perfect for deluxe,it would help you with your brawl head problem, mirage's head already barely fit in there, and that was one SMALL head.
